If you're applying for a writing internship,
    #17759195 -

would you list relevant courses and the skills you've acquired from those courses in your resume? Such as, for instance, Eng. Comp. (Honors), Comp. & Lit. (Honors), Intro to Editing, & Fiction Writing?

Also, if you've made Dean's List for x consecutive semesters, would you add that as well?

be original.  there are no competitors.  you are the applicant that is going to be chosen. write them into believing so.

Exactly. I have an excellent objective and summary which I feel very confident about, a few lines which I know will make them say hey, we need this kid and continue reading my resume. I'm not sure if I need to list all relevant coursework, or only those few sparse courses which I personally feel has allowed me to excel as an aspiring writer.

For a small print and online magazine focusing on the jam and bluegrass community. Type of work: concert and festival reviews, poetry and short stories, news articles about or related to interests in the music scene. Very creative, very personal, and in my opinion an excellent opportunity for me to continue to perform my journalistic endeavors in the field as a freelance writer as well as gaining an understanding of how such an entity exists and operates.

My good friend knows the owner and his wife. He will undoubtedly put in a good word for me, but I want my resume and cover letter to shine. I am also providing examples of my work (e.g. my sole festival review posted on a small music blog which garnered a lot of compliments and an in depth analysis on skateboarding's transgression of the capitalist ideology inherent in architecture and public space, which I hope to get published in an undergrad journal. I also have a few poems and short stories I may include, but overall I am showcasing my creative non-fiction and critical thinking skills).

In general, isn't it a good thing to list positive qualities?

But what about relevant coursework? And the amount of detail describing why such work is relevant?

If that's what you got, that's the best thing to do.

Think about it from their position. A dude comes in wanting a writing internship, and tells you that he has taken a few classes in writing and did well and they're going to help him because ____.

That's better than not having it (unless you have something overshadowingly better).

I have a kick ass objective and summary. My education and relevant course work is at the bottom. I am going to ask a few professors tomorrow in class for their opinion.

Feel free to share yours with me. I would provide you with my resume but, well, a drug forum is no place for my resume

I would list the coursework in its entirety.  As for adding personal notes about relevancy, I wouldn't.  If I did it would be as uniform as possible without being tedious.

Well, you see, at community college I've taken a bunch of communications, english, and anthropology courses, among a handful of totally unrelated and unhelpful requirements. Since I've transfered, my I've taken mainly science and policy courses as an environmental studies major, but I recently have decided to focus on writing rather than natural science. As such, most courses are not relevant to this particular internship and detract overall from the reader's attention.

Fack, I need to sleep.

yeah I'm shooting in the dark too, but it's an internship and you've got a friend on the inside so I wouldn't worry too much.
