No, I've been aware of Ayn Rand for decades, sadly enough. (Yes, since I was a little kid and got to read "Atlas Shrugged" for some odd reason at the age of 9.) I just find that many "harm reduction" boards tend to have a libertarian streak upon them; which I find to be okay when it comes to social issues; I'm not so hot on the ones who think it should apply to economic issues as well (ie cut FEMA, CDC, privatize everything, etc.)

Unfortunately, you don't see the former too often without the latter being around in the same person as well...and the other part of libertarianism that I don't like is that it seems to be "liberty for me, not for thee" as seen by attempts to repeal civil rights legislation, handicapped services, abortion services for women [that's something Ron Paul added into the libertarian mix; his racist screeds (penned by other gynecologists from the same area who just had the same interests he did, or so he claimed...even as he published them for years out of his own pocket and profited to the tune of over $1,000,000) weren't new territory for them.]

Sorry I ramble on a bit, I've been drinking too much coffee to stay awake again.

i happen to think, that even though words have a intrinsically defined construct; they are meant to be malleable and especially since our English language is meant to be used in such a way, to break away from the usual literary terminology and be used artfully, that i should try and attempt to do that. :shrug:

i'm sorry some of the users here are so artificially constructed.

i shouldn't be getting into details, but yes you are right: the meaning of a word comes more down to context than webster's definition, which is why a lot of what you said seemed out of place/incomprehensible

actually, he also uses the word n***** as a way to deter people from using the word n*****. it's pretty defeatist... but he has no other way of coping, when he can blatantly tell people over and over again that n***** is just a word, and doesn't hold any power unless you let it; and it never sinks in to anyone's mind.

just like most of his political stance. i'm sure more people are more blind to that, then they might think.

DXM used to make me come up with odd sentences like that (particularly making my metaphors interesting if a bit weird). Don't know what your excuse is.

As for being 25? You strike me as rather immature yourself for your supposed age; I at least could blame it on the syrup blocking out years of memories and messing up a third of my life's development in such a manner...again, I don't know what your excuse is, but I'm sure someone here more familiar with you would know.

Coping with what? With the fact he uses it so often? Or that he often starts the chorus of "n*****" within one of his shithead threads and then has his friends play sing-along, or vice versa?

The only thing I see him "coping" with is a fear and/or hate of black people, frankly.

No; it takes quite a bit of negative scoring before someone is thrown into the "banned" territory; usually "yellow stars" (which means 0 points) are given for simple "warning" posts; the "red star" (negatives) are thrown out there for more severe posts; and not all forums abide by this scoring (some don't allowing rating of posts). Additionally, one is given a chance first under a "Restricted" status (makes some forums off-limits), which allows one to build up positive karma...and a limited democracy (as the admins/moderators do have final say, especially when it comes to early bannings) beats the hell out of dictatorship; in which certain assholes can stay even if they're detrimental to the system because they're friendly with the right staff member (especially if the particular staff member in question is corrupt or otherwise unsuitable for the job at hand).

And yes, that means no trolling is allowed (unless you want to run a second username for that sort of thing), but the atmosphere on D-F is a bit more ...mature, to be honest. Taking a look at the non-Pub boards might help me appreciate this place more, to be honest; last time I was mostly stuck between here and OTD (along with the "politics" board, which really should be renamed "Libertarianism" as that's the only brand of politics covered on there, especially given the current moderator).
