Refused ("hardcore")

I flipped to the Wedge on Much earlier, and I saw what I assumed was The (International) Noise Conspiracy. I thought, damn, this is some heavier shit than usual. It was excellent. Then it ended and it said that the group was Refused, which rang a bell, but left me somewhat confused. I checked it out on Epitaph's site, and it turns out that it was a band they had before Noise Conspiracy (not sure how many members are the same).

Feeling all caught up and groovy, I downloaded the three available mp3's from Epitaph, and they are great. Really fucking great. It would be pretty easy to hate the singer's voice, but the somewhat shrill screaming works, overall. :wink: lol

For the love of whatever it is you believe in, download the songs, or watch the video for New Noise. Actually, do it all you lazy bastard. :grin:

Ahhh, Refused! My friend bought one of their albums - The Shape of Punk to Come, and lent it to me for a week. It's one of those albums that I just liked straight away. Brilliance!

I love Refused.  The shape of punk to come and Songs to fan the flames of discontent are VERY well done albums.  I've had them for years, don't think I'll EVER get bored of them.  Too bad Refused are fucking dead... :frown:  but atleast they composed a kickass song about it :smile:

Oh, indeed. They rock some serious ass, and such.

I need to be picking up an album soon, as I've only got the three mp3's. It's times like this I wish I still used Kazza or something. Alas, my old Compaq just can't handle the punishment my piracy inflicts. :wink:

the song is called...:  refused are fucking dead.  :laugh:

i'd reccomend new noise as a first taste if you have never heard them before.. although its definetly not their best imo.

When Refused broke up they formed two different bands "International Noise Conspiracy" and "The Text Collective" aka "Text." If you liked the experimental direction that refused was heading toward, then you might want to check out text. They're on buddyhead records and kinda hard to find. Just don't expect anything at all like refused or anything else you've ever heard for that matter.

tinc is one the greatest live acts I have ever seen. Their energy is unmatched and their situationist lyrics and liner notes are a welcomed breath of fresh air.

I'm really not sure I'd consider AFI 'hardcore' ... I did listen to Black Sails & Art of Drowning quite often a few years ago, I thought they were well done albums..but hardcore..? naah..

I.N.C. has put out some really interesting stuff aswell, I'd definetly go to one of their shows if I had the chance. Though, I REALLY wish I could have seen refused perform while they were still together...
