Hardcore has a lotta different definitions in different places...you mean stuff like Raised Fist, or that dodgy SoCal type stuff?

Hardcore rock or Techno? I hate hardcore rock, I'm more of a dream rock kinda person. In most instances. Hardcore Drum and Bass is my favorite. Especially Darkstep. I'm a gothic type raver. Not many of us. Most ravers are candy-kids. They're alright though. Oh, I'm from NM got me into DB, but Austin, TX was what gave me my "rock-star" and "goth" edge.

Hardcore.. "rock" If you want to call it that, but for me, there is no way in hell I could ever consider any type of techno "hardcore" in the slightest. There's nothing "hardcore" about techno. It makes me angry.

I'm just talking any type of hardcore, as long as it's actual.. you know, hardcore. Not Techno "hardcore". Skycamefalling, Shutdown, Shai Hulud, Torn Apart, Converge, Coalesce, Botch, Codeseven, blah blah blah blah blah blah

My listening ranges from Cannibal Corpse and Pantera, to Pink Floyd and The Tear Garden. I think that anything that is fuelled by emotion can be considered "Hardcore". Just because a song features two guitars and a distortion pedal doesn't make it hardcore. I know plenty of electronic and synth based music that is waay more intense than any guitar driven song. And vice versa...
Anywaaaay to answer your second question, Toronto, Canada.

But cannibal Corpse is really death metal isn't it? Like, when I think of hardcore I think of 80s/90's hardcore, you know the original crossover betweeen punk and metal

CC IS deathmetal, that's what I'm saying. When I talk about hardcore I'm talking more modern hardcore, but the old transition stuff counts too. I'm talking like ..chokehold, ....and im having a brainfart and its 4:30 in the morning so i'm not naming any more bands.. but the metalish type hardcore.

When someone says 'hardcore' I think of late early 90's rave music. Basically really fast techno (Happy hardcore was a bit more uplifting techno, with cheezy pianos and vocals). Dunno if it was a birtish thing or not, but it was definately called hardcore.
Man, I used to love that music back in the day.. Dunno why though, I can't stand it now :)

Hardcore got diffrent meanings I guess
It's more of an attitude than A style of music.
Nowadays lot's of tyhings are called hardcore when in fact they aren't like happy techno hardcore (aargh commercialised rubbish), Like if someone would call limp bizkit hardcore just because they are so heavy ( yawn) they couldn't be more wrong. Hardcore is an attitude towards life that's being conveyed by hardcore music. Sick of it all, pro-pain, rykers, snapcase, good riddance etc is all hardcore, punk that is.

Ever hear any speedcore. Hardcore techno pretty much refers to the beats per second. It's alot fast then techno. Speedcore is just insane. Alot of it sounds wikkid. But i dunno how the hell ppl dance to it ;o)

Originally techno was any music that was created electronically. That basically means all dance music could be classified as techno. The original dance pioneers (Prodidgy, Shamen, KLF, Orbital, Orb) were all labeled as techno. Tunes that would now be called Drum n' bass were also called techno.
Nowadays techno tends to mean quite hard dance music with a repetative 4/4 beat. It's a bit difficult to describe a type of music, but it's harder and faster than trance, but slower than drum n' bass. Somewhere around 130-150 bpm. Basically if it's electronic, and doesn't really fit into another genre then it's techno.
There's loads of different types of techno kicking arround out there. Acid techno (liberator Brothers, Dave the Drummer, Roland the Bastard etc) is on the slow end of techno, and is very industrial and solid. Tech-Trance (Lab 4, DJ Mishka etc) is also often called techno, and this is much faster than acid techno with loads of dirty psychedelic noises, and it's quite deep and pounding. Tech-house is a bit slower fluffyer than tech-trance, and this is also called techno and It usually has lots of really electronic 303 loops and bleepy noises. Then there's the other random stuff such as Aphex Twin and squarepusher that also get labeled techno.
There is also ambient techno, which again all kinds of music fall into such as Future sound of London, Autechre, etc
I could go on, but basically anything that is electronic can or has at some point been known as techno.

Hmm, seems like too much time wasted trying to slap a label on the music than actually listening to the music...

I totally agree. At the end of the day if you like the tunes, you like, and if you don't then you don't. Simple as that...
Being a techno (Tech-trance if anyones gonna be picky) DJ though, I like to try and follow these things.

I don't mean to sound like I hate techno or the like ..I just want to try to stick to the topic ... Harcdcore rules
