I have seen countless nootropics threads more and more frequently as of late.  I figured we could start condensing and compiling into 1 thread to make info easier to find, and more solidified discussion to ensue.

I personally am a big fan of nootropics and am very interested to see where new discoveries go.

So far I have experience with:

Piracetam
Aniracetam
Phenubut


I was just reading about noopept:

t is derived from the racetam family of drugs and shares similar mechanisms of action,[2][3] but is, according to studies, 1000 times more potent than the prototypical racetam drug, piracetam.[4] Animal studies have shown noopept to be neuroprotective and enhance memory in various tests.[5][6][7][8][9] Unusually for a peptide-derived compound, noopept displays both high oral bioavailability[10] and good blood–brain barrier penetration[11] in rats (although a previous study concluded that "GVS-111 itself was not found in rat brain 1 h after 5 mg/kg i.p. administration up to limit of detection" and that administration of Noopept only increases the concentration of endogenous nootropic Cyclo-L-prolylglycine[3]), and human studies have shown promising results, with potential application in the treatment of Alzheimer's disease.[12] It is also an "immunocorrector" in mice.[13]
It has been found to stimulate the expression of NGF and BDNF in rat hippocampus.[8] Expression of the studied neurotropic factors in the cerebral cortex was below the control after single administration of Noopept, while chronic administration caused a slight increase in BDNF expression. In the hippocampus, expression of mRNA for both neurotrophins increased after acute administration of Noopept. Chronic treatment with Noopept was not followed by the development of tolerance, but even potentiated the neurotrophic effect.[8]


Sounds awesome! but pretty spendy at the same time.



Last night I tried phenibut before going into a sensory deprivation float tank and I would say it is very synergistic I felt so relaxed, came home, went to bed, woke up still relaxed :vaped:.


I hope you will share some info and we can all start understanding and knowing more about this odd under researched  class of chemicals.

If you do not know what Brain-derived neurotrophic factor is check it out, it plays a part in how nootropics effect us:

I've been interested in the racetams...but I ended up going the herbal route as far as nootropics go. At least for the moment.


I'm starting to experiment with Mucuna pruriens, Rhodiola Rosea, and Calamus....Which can be considered nootropics, as they improve the function of one or more of the following....cognition, memory, intelligence, motivation, attention, and concentration.



I'll try to remember to utilize this thread as a way to post my trials & experiences with the various nootropic herbs.

Choline supplementation is a good idea if you take things from the -cetam family.


However, remember that nootropics do not combine well with many pharmaceuticals.


If you take too much acetyl-choline your heart can race and it is advisable to avoid other stimulants, including caffeine.

Cardiac patients would be advised to avoid acetyl-choline supplementation and may wish to avoid nootropics.

Some nootropics act as localized cerebral vasodilators and should be not be used by anyone elderly as that could lead to a cerebral infarction.

I always mix choline in about a 50/50 mix when I cap up my aniracetam.

You guys know about Braintropic? It's a good source for making nootropic stacks, the longecity forums are also very helpful.

That is my favorite nootropic resource, the stacks there are great. I use the entrepreneur stack, and here's a beginner's nootropic guide that I used to make my first stack. Or you could just go with Brainstack, a premade stack that is pretty decent, its pretty similar to Alpha Brain, but I liked it better.

Nootropics feel incredible, much similar to the feeling you get after a good psy trip. You feel smart and on top of your game, positive and motivated. Much better than coffee. Your vision and hearing gets enhanced to almost psychedelic levels, or at least for me. You still have the normalcy and stability of being sober, but something just seems... different. Enhanced really. Your perception changes in all the best ways. I truly love nootropics, and I have gotten these effects off the Entrepreneur Stack on that site.

If you want to know what nootropics can do, check out the 7 day log they just posted of nootropic effects. I feel like that would give any beginner a decent idea of some basic effects. The point is nootropics supplement your life, and help make your capabilities the best they can be all the time. I feel so in tune with my body in the world ever since I started my stack.

If you guys want to know anything, feel free to ask away! I am somewhat of an expert on this stuff, not sure if that's a good thing... Braintropic is a good resource though, might want to check out the longecity forums as well.

I've taken piracetam before and found it too be useful. I've been looking into noopept and it doesnt seem that pricey compared to most other nootropics though i guess it depends where you look.

Seriously, check out their stacks and guides. That is my go-to source for nootropic information. The menu and catagories contain most of the decent guides and stuff so its easy to find, but some things you have to dig for. If you guys want to know anything, feel free to ask away! You guys ever get paranoid?
Like only a select isolated group (Internet, drug culture) uses nootropics.
Science seams to be lacking for most. The human mind plays many tricks on it's self...

It seams that nootropics are only in starting stages. Diet, exercise, sleep, other things your mother told you about have a much greater effect, for now. Nothing ever comes these things yet.
I could see the use in competition (College students etc) for a add supplement on after the primary things are taken care of 100%. Just for the possible chance they can help.

But yea I take a few... just for the possible edge.

From what I've read the -racetams greatly potentiate psychedelics. I'm taking aniracetam currently. I'm also getting a headache later in the day. I eat 4 eggs every morning so I don't think it's lack of choline. It could be that I'm 7 days without caffeine though. I did find that aniracetam lessened the caffeine withdrawal symptoms. The most noticeable effect of aniracetam to me is the color enhancement, which is pretty cool.

In my experience I found that piracetam definitely works, but if I use it consequentially for 2-3 days I build a tolerance very rapidly and by the third day it is useless for me. I also tried noopept, which was aweful.
What I generally use is caffiene pills, ephedrine pills, and l-tyrosine+ vitamin b-6. L tyrosine really does noticeably boost my dopamine, but overall all the things I listed come nowhere close to a good diet and a good night's sleep.

Man there is nothing that I love more than piracetam + LSD (maybe a candyflip but thats a different story).

I would occasionally venture to boost my acid trips by eating 7grams a days of piracetam 2-3 days prior to an acid trip which as a result rocks my world.

On the topic of boosting cognition I've tried piracetam and aniracetam and even though aniracetam is stronger I still prefer piracetam. I think it has a longer halflife and generally provides the effect I'm really looking for. Would often combine it with choline/inositol source but I've read that taking inositol supplements could do some nasty shit to your GI tract (elevated cancer frequency).

I took approx. 375ug of LSD and 1g of Piracetam.

That was my most intense LSD experience to date. I do not know if the piracetam had an effect, but I have been accidentally dosed over 20 hits and that was no where near as intense as this shit.

Thats a good dose if you really had 375ug acid and I really do think that the piracetam helps your bloodstream supply more of the drug at a faster rate to your brain.

I've had negative experiences from example drinking while taking piracetam and since I had no alcohol tolerance at the time I got hammered from a laughable amount of alcohol.
