Sunday Tourneys
We will be having weekly tournaments on every Sunday, beginning this week January 27th. Every Sunday tourney will begin at 7:05pm EST. The Sunday tourneys will require payment prior to participating. I will collect the money so that I can distribute the winnings once the tournament is completed. *Every Sunday tournament will be a $10 entry that you can PayPal to me at shroomin96@yahoo.com (alternate email for identity purposes, but still my actual paypal). (send as Personal>Gift to avoid the fees, please)
(* = minus a select few, read below)
We will have quarterly $25 buy-in tourneys that will take the place of the usual $10 Sunday tourney. These higher buy-in tourneys will take place 3/31/13, 6/30/13, 9/29/13, and 12/1/13. I chose to make the last tourney the first Sunday in December instead of interfering with everyones holiday schedules. The December 1st tourney will also conclude the inaugural The Shroomery Poker Club season.
Thursday Tourneys
We will also be having weekly $5 tourneys beginning on Thursday, January 24th. Every Thursday tourney will begin at 9:30pm EST. Same protocol as with the Sunday tourneys, please send the $5 buy-in prior to the beginning of the tournament to me at shroomin96@yahoo.com. I'm hoping the $5 tourney will be able to draw in more participants as the club moves forward.
WHEN SENDING MONEY BE SURE TO SEND IT AS "GIFT" TO AVOID THE FEES OR ELSE YOU WILL LOSE MONEY DUE TO PAYPAL FEES.
Player of the Year Leader Board
I want to keep a player of the year standings to reward the members who participate throughout the season. PokerStars has this set up already for us under the tab "Standings" in the Poker Club Lobby. This will keep track of the participants of the tourneys throughout the year and having each of the top players winning a supporter account. You will accrue 1 point for registering, paying, and participating in the tournaments. Just for playing you automatically get one point. Then the top 3 players of each tournament will be awarded points based on placement. 1st place - 3; 2nd place - 2; 3rd place - 1. At the end of the year the top 3 places will be awarded supporter accounts as such: 1st place - 1 year; 2nd place - 6 months; 3rd place - 3 months.
I think the fairest way to fund the Player of the Year is to pull 5% from each prize pool and put it towards the end of year award.
I thought about pulling a fixed amount each tourney, so that way we knew exactly how much we'd have at the end of the year, but that would not really be fair to participants in a 6 person tourney in comparison to a 10 person tourney. I would not be pulling an equal percentage of the prize pool every time. So, I think the 5% "rake" works best.
I am completely open to suggestions on rewards for the Player of the Year standings. I think a lot depends on how much we'll have to play with by Dec. 2nd. I think it would be cool to award as many as we could and I thought maybe a $45 award as our "base" (1 year supporter) would be a decent starting point to think about. But I'm totally open for whatever and look forward to suggestions.
RULES
I don't have any real rules, other than, don't make me have to be a prick. Please. If you don't have the money, don't play. There will be another tourney on Tuesday or Sunday.
I'm going to keep this club as transparent as possible. I will post the payouts after every tourney in a thread. I want to create a thread for the Sunday tourneys and one for the Wednesday tourneys. I will make sure everyone knows about the distribution of the money.
If you sign up for a tourney, pay, but then are unable to play, and un-register prior to the tourney starting. I will give you your money back. If you sign up for a tourney, pay, unable to play, but do not un-register and you're blinded away, I will be keeping your money. Your spot would have affected the game so your tourney entry will be kept.
If I'm having issues with money collection, all info will be made public and will be kept that way to keep this moving forward.
Please leave any comments, suggestions, complaints, concerns, in the thread. Let's try to figure them all out and make sure everyone is in agreement.
Practice Tables There are three practice tables available to be played on at any given time with others within the club. In the "schedule" tab there are two boxes. One with table games and one below with our tournament schedule. To play on the practice tables all you need to do is: Join the table you wish to play, and get some other people in the club to come play with you.
