ridiculousness of texting (Poll Included)

I wanted to see what everyone thought about texting. I myself only text when I don't have the opportunity to call someone, and every now and then when I just don't feel like talking to someone I don't want to, I revert to texting. But for the most part, I don't text too much.

My friends on the other hand text all the time. I'll go out for the night and we'll all be hanging out and I'll turn my head for a second and then turn back to see all my friends texting on their phones. All they do is text just to text. They'll have unnecessary conversations with people just for the sake of talking. Usually when I want to talk/converse with someone, I just ask them to hang out with me :shrug:

What I'm noticing more though is that people, such as my friends, relying texting as a social outlet for everything. Now these days, if they're interested in a girl, they'll just start texting them and soon or later, they'll go out on dates with them. With me, I just plainly ask girls out on dates. I hate texting and there's only so much that you can think of to talk about. In person, it's a whole other story and there's better interaction. I kind of feel left out though to an extent though, because everyone I see, guy friend, girl friend, sibling, they're all texting and what not.

I feel like an old man. I just wish smart phones and cell phones we're only allowed to make calls.

I use to be a text whore, using it to build relationships with girls and eventually go on dates/ fuck them... BUt those relationships usually werent too good, kind of like a fake relationship.

Now i use texting for little shit like setting up plans or talking to parents.

Dude I know what you mean, a lot of people are hooked on texting and from what I can tell it kills their attention spans. Not to mention social skills...

Most people don't have that problem, but its pretty prevelant. People going out to bars, concerts, and parties then spending their time texting instead of mingling. Cop-out year 2000

I probably send 2 or 3 a day

I text maybe 2 times a day.  I find calling to be way more convenient and efficient.  I just text when  I don't feel like talking or the person is a "talker."  :nonono:

I text for the most part. Usually me and my people dont have too much to say over a phone.
When i talk about illegal stuff, i call.

i dont have a fancy smart phone like everyone else I know and whenever we hang out and they just sit and play with their phones I just talk shit to them about it until they stop. It seems like its making so many people lose social skills. Like they can't hold a fucking conversation for the life of them. Maybe I need new friends :shrug:

I've got an iphone and I think it's a waste for me. All I use it for is the the music portion of it. Usually when I talk to someone, I like to get to the point and not waste time with texting back and forth. Also I like to get feedback about what I'm saying to people and I can usually tell by the sound of their voice. With texting, it's hard to tell.

Ultimately though, snapchat is the biggest waste of anytime

That's one of the main reasons I would like one so I didn't have to carry around a phone and an iPod

The whole world is turning this way but there will be a time in the future where this problem will be realized When that happens that is when you open a rehab camp for texters and charge big bucks.  Who's in with me?

I can tell that my iphone is on the verge of death because it's slow as hell and freezes all the time, which is actually good news to me! Now I'll have a reason to whip out my old pantec qwerty keyboard phone. Plus $20 a month for my data package sucks too.

I'll say I'm a hipster and call it "vintage"

I just got a new phone after having the same flip phone for 3 years, the screen finally went out.

One of my other problems is when people talk shit about my phone and im like dude, i'd like to see you pay for your own phone and still have your fancy shit that your parents pay for... they usually shut up after that

The only reason I ever text is to the assholes that text you and when you call them back do not answer the phone! I can say in 5 seconds what takes me 15 to type. If you don't wanna talk hit the fuck you button.
