I found the character of Balin in the hobbit to be portrayed as too old and not aggressive enough to believably have attempted to retake the khazadhun during the interlibrum period. did anyone else pic this up?

It was entirely too long, and it just cycled the slow quiet/fast loud without any real "meat" to the story.  I've never seen any of the other LOTR's but other than that it was alright I guess, nothing to write home about.

Yea see I don't know the story.  I was told you don't need to know the full story to enjoy it but I can imagine it would make it about 10x better if you did.

Yeah, I've heard mixed things but want to see it this weekend. I do think the movies are so beautiful and vivid and haven't seen a bad one yet.

The visuals are wild.  I think like larry was saying if I knew the story better alot more would have come together for me watching this one.  I'd say definatly check it out, especially if you're into the other ones. :thumbup:

I saw it and was dissapointed, didnt know they were splitting it up into THREE god damn movies.  It was a snorefest, one of the most dissapointing movies ive seen all year.

The Book is only 300 god damn pages and they are splitting it up into 3, 3 hour movies? BULLSHIT :crankey:
