Punk shows are the cat's vagina. Great atmosphere, make friends, violent, but its a friendly, loving violence.
Other shows I go to are dubstep/dnb. Not much beats flailing with a fully altered mind with beautiful women all around and a total sensory overload.
Haven't gotten out to see some jazz yet but fully plan to soon.

All in all, nothing beats smaller music festivals that do not have corporate sponsors.

a concert is a multitude of physiological outside influences arriving on cue & from Huberts backyard fly house (not in tan) to the human ear, the elves in the ear see the musical enchantment fly inward through the ear & capture it in a small jar they have in there, which is how our earbuds work matter of fact, but in all likelihood a trip to a concert would have me in the corner sucking my thumb crying to my rainbow fish & the three headed celluloid jelly.

i thought the only date they had with UM was feb 1st in GR?  Unfortunately I think I am going to be missing that to catch lotus in royal oak the same night then catch UM in detroit the following day.  save some $ and help slow the degradation of our environment (less gas).

I actually emailed them about the whole ordeal -- it was (and still is) a tough decision to miss GSBG and UM together! and I actually got a response from them so that's cool.

I've seen umphreys before, but I couldn't really get into them. There's something about Brendan's voice and the fact that i'm not a progressive rock fan :shrug:

I do like the song triple wide though :cookiemonster:

Ive only been to one concert my entire life actually and that was a Shpongle Concert and all I can say about that was :awecid::mindblown: it was the most beautifully intense experience of my entire life. It was also my first time tripping acid so just 3 hits and shpongle and a lot of crazy people which was cool because it made me feel normal being crazy. :shpongle:

Yeah if you don't like prog rock you probably won't like UM, though they do play a very eclectic selection of music.  I personally think they are the best touring jam band, but everyone has their own opinion about that.

I'll be the hundredth person in this thread agreeing that OP's problem is going to see bands that are well past their best-if-heard-by date. (Not to mention RAPING YOU on ticket prices.)

To be fair, I did see the cure in around 1996 and it was pretty damn impressive, despite the age of the band at that time.

I would also recommend trying to branch out and widen your horizons, lest you end up like that stereotypical cranky old man who thinks the music of his generation was the greatest stuff to ever bless the airwaves, while everything new is "noise" and "garbage." I agree that a lot of newer stuff is crap, but not all of it.

I saw Mindless Self Indulgence in a small club and it was a pretty badass show. Likewise with Dope.

I wish I could go to more concerts. :frown:

i love catching dj's and concerts, but i'm picky about who i go see. i miss most shows due to lack of time and/or money.

the last concert i saw was amon tobin's isam 2.0 in october. i had my ticket since may. it was worth seeing. outside of two drinks i was sober and it was still :awecid:
