Why are there no turkey based restaurants?
    #17266436 -

Most restaurants, especially fast-food, are mostly categorized according to the animal they serve.

Chicken (mostly fried)
Beef (hamburger joints, steakhouses)
Pork (barbecue)
Fish (again, mostly fried)

Of course, there is some crossover. You can get a chicken sandwich at McDonalds, most fish places also serve chicken, etc, but there are no turkey restaurants that I know of. Hardees has a turkey burger, and that's the only place I can even think of off the top of my head where I can even get turkey at a restaurant.

Why is that? Turkey is one of the most American foods you can eat. Benjamin Franklin wanted to make it the national bird. It tastes good, and isn't expensive at all.

The only form of turkey that most Americans eat, these days, other than birds baked at home for Thanksgiving, is sliced deli meats. I'd say those two things probably account for 90% of the turkey consumed in the U.S.

Why are there no emu based restaurants? I mean you can get beef and chicken and pork and fish pretty much everywhere but where's the fucking emu, man??

There's a restaurant in the food court at the mall near here where they always have a roasted turkey. I never see anyone eat there, but I assume people do sometimes or they wouldn't have been open this long.

They tried that back in the 80's. For whatever reason, it didn't work out.

Personally, I'd like to see more rabbit, squirrel, and rattlesnake in the shops.

How many people here actually really enjoy turkey (especially the flavorless mass-bred variety most of us eat on thanksgiving) over chicken?

I couldn't imagine a successful business based around turkey unless they had high quality, organic, free range birds..and then prices would be too high IMO.

Boston Market is the closest thing to a successful turkey business and it's :puke:

I think I should open a chain of restaurants called Beaver Pelts. It can be like Hooters with scantily clad woman expect we serve lots of beaver. Beaver poutine. Hot beaver on a bun. Beaver burgers. Just beaver everything with a nice hella classy Canadian motif.

Nope, rattlesnake.

I'm starting a rattlesnake farm, BTW.

Which brings up another question.

Why do we have a dozen Mexican restaurants in every town, but no Canadian restaurants?

Maybe because your diet is pretty much the same as the US's except for the poutine which is delicious IMO. Oh and you guys got the mcrib year-round, that's always a plus lol.

I'm just joking around and have only been to CA once, what would you suggest would be served at a Canadian restarant?

Poutine and moosemeat, probably.

Maybe some baby seal. They eat alot of seal up there, right?

Canadian food is basically the same as American food, plus a couple things like poutine and peameal (aka "Canadian") bacon. If you go to a restaurant that sells "Chinese and Canadian food", the Canadian portion is basically burgers and fries. FYI those tend to be very shitty Chinese restaurants.

Haha, Let's put baby seal on the menu around the bible belt and see what happens.

Yeah, yeah. As if "Chinese" and Mexican restaurants are all "authentic" and shit.

Americans love fried shit with gravy on it, and maple syrup.

The recipes write themselves!

There's also Canadian pizza, which is bacon and a couple other things. Maybe pepperoni and mushrooms?
