Just a heads up for everyone in the USA buying from rueshop... They are located in Iran. You are buying an Iranian-origin product, shipped directly from Iran to the USA. There are currently severe US sanctions against Iran.

Technically, it is a federal crime to purchase anything from Iran, open any trade lines with Iran, export/import to/from Iran, transfer money to/from Iran, etc, if you are located in the United States. There are exceptions to the sanctions (eg family transfers of household good, gifts that look like gifts), but none of them apply to the bulk purchase of rue seeds, whether for personal consumption or for resale.

I have no idea what the likelihood is of someone ordering rue and then being prosecuted for a violation of these sanctions. Iran post might be sending the packages, and USPS receiving them -- but they still have to go through a US CBP center. If you were discovered, the potential for criminal prosecution and a substantial fine is quite high.

If anyone has anything that could refute this, please share it.

By your email address, I can recognize that you are the owner of the other Ethnobotanical shop and this is dishonest to post such claim that you are not even sure about it and try to scare everyone to order from us!

As you posted about the issue here on the forum as well, I am quoting my reply to you via email, so everyone reads it and be well clarified:

This only applies to official importation/exportation between Iranian and US companies, not individuals.

Our parcels shipped to USA are all as personal packages/orders even parcels above 5KG and all of them are successfully cleared through US custom, as they are shipped to individuals.

The same goes when we (Iranians) purchase items from US-based online shops, they are all personal purchases and they simply clear from Iran Custom and are delivered.

You can check these Tracking numbers (at https://tools.usps.com/go/TrackConfirmAction_input ) which were shipped to US previously in Sep:

for 2KG parcel RF484501985IR
for 2KG parcel RF484501755IR
for 5 KG parcel CF483102947IR

We have had many orders shipped to US during 2012 and all of them were delivered fast and successfully.

The sanctions apply to every resident or citizen of the United States, whether you are of Iranian descent of not. ANY trade with Iran, even between individuals, requires a licence from the OFAC (Office of Foreign Assets Control). That includes purchases of goods over the internet by non-official individuals, even if only for personal consumption. That is just the law at the moment - unfair, yes - but that is the law. Feel free to call OFAC to confirm that at 1-800-540-6322. 

I'm not trying to damage anyone's business. Far from it. My concern is that people are unwittingly exposing themselves to prosecution. It is even a crime to buy Iranian-origin goods in another country and then bring them or mail them back to the United States. Hundreds of individuals have been fined or sentenced to jail for violations of the sanctions. Be very careful -- the US government is not a friendly organization, and they view any interactions with Iran by a US person with intense suspicion.

What you are talking about or already concerned is not applied here to what we do, otherwise USPS shouldn't have allowed you or any US citizen to ship stuffs to Iran, or vice versa deliver stuffs from Iran.

Are you aware there are already hundreds of Iranian stores operating within USA? are you aware there are many online Iranian shops right within USA? are you aware there are many online US based shops that they ship parcels to Iran by USPS?

Ive been a customer of these US shops lately www.bouncingbearbotanicals.com you already know them, www.capsuleconnection.com , www.seacoast.com , www.betterworldbooks.com and many more in past, are they doing crime shipping parcels to Iran based on your claims? do they have gone to get license from OFAC in order to ship parcels to Iran? oh come on :smile:

We hear so much negative banter about Iran (and a lot of things), it's very discouraging that our media cannot focus more on positive stories.  I cancelled my television subscription over a year ago and it has been a relief to step away from all the BS propaganda and political agendas.  I live in a region of Los Angeles with a fairly significant Iranian population, and every one of them that I have spoken to has been very kind and friendly.

Thanks for sharing the video and thank you also for supporting our community. :sun:

Updates are not added on I.R.I post when the package is shipped outside Iran, but rather at destination Postal service website (in your case Ireland Postal website) :smile: Go to Ireland postal service website at www.anpost.ie and enter your tracking number, you'll see the last delivery/updates there :stoned:
