Tips for an aspiring writer?

I've been very interested in writing stories and have done a few in my day but its been awhile. I have some ideas but im having some trouble getting started and I have a feeling ill have a lot of trouble along the way. I haven't taken any creative writing classes which would help a lot im sure and I plan to take some when I can but for now I would greatly appreciate some tips if anyone has some.

Songwriters use a 'hook', a catchy phrase or riff. A story develops a tempo that lulls the reader.

The author imprints their soul into the work, whether unconsciously or by design by the 'nether'.

I don't know if the patron-saint of writers requires a sacrifice but you might want to consider the option.
