i miss the whole idea about being young and free to pretty much do anything and have fun while doing it.  not  having any worries, cares, or problems.  also, having the WILDEST imagination, while playing games or even having a bath.  now what my imagination brings me is wild...other things :P

It might be odd. But I have a theory that when your a kid the pineal gland is exceptionally more active, which in turn would lead to a crazy imagination. And I remember when I was a kid at night I would wake up like tripping in a very scary place with intense dreams, and hallucinations.

I think people have a very narrow conception of what is possible with reality, that we're surrounded by the howling abyss of the unknowable and nobody knows what's out there.

Our world is in crisis because of the absence of consciousness. And so to whatever degree any one of us, can bring back a small piece of the picture and contribute it to the building to the new paradigm, then we participate in the redemption of the human spirit, and that after all is what it's really all about.

What I don't miss about being a kid is being scared of the dark.  I saw "Wes Craven's New Nightmare", the final Freddy Kreuger movie, as a kid, and I remember that I was freaked out of the dark and of going to sleep for a VERY long time after seeing the movie.  I even got professional help as a kid to deal with having seen that movie and having that fear, it was so bad.  Having the overactive imagination of a kid in the dark didn't help, either.

I don't think he was being sarcastic.  That's not the way I interpreted his post, anyway.

I don't know about the pineal gland necessarily being more active as a kid (it could be, though, who knows?) but the chemicals in your brain and body are probably going a lot more wild than they do when you're an adult.  For example, everybody knows that when you hit puberty your hormones go crazy.  If you're a man, I think the amount of testosterone in your body goes down a certain amount every year after you hit like 27 years old.  I'm 27, so I'll probably be getting testosterone replacement therapy before long now

That could be, we might not ever know the answer.

I'd say child-like behavior has less to do with over-active pineal glands and more to do with less responsibility.

I always feel like I can tap into that child-like part of my mind, the only difference now is that I have an additional, adult part of my mind  to play with as well. I can use the adult part of my mind to earn money for food and solve complex problems such as driving to like minded communities before I activate the child-like part of my mind and dance, play games and laugh as much, if not more than I ever did as a kiddie.

Miserable people seem to be the ones that don't, or can't make time for child-like play.

Some people just mature in different ways.  I used to laugh A LOT as a kid and I was always the kid making people laugh with my wit and humor, but in recent years I don't laugh very much and don't have nearly as much wit and humor to entertain people with.  I'm not a miserable person, and am generally happy (or at least content).  Then again, I'm on Suboxone for a past opiate addiction, so maybe it's the medicine keeping me from laughing.  I'm currently tapering off Suboxone because I don't like the side effects, and when I start going into withdrawal from my last dose I tend to start finding more things to be funny and I start laughing more.  So maybe it is just the Suboxone affecting me and keeping me from laughing very much.
