well i unfortunately hadn't even heard of phish until after the hiatus. My first show was like february 2003? it was the first jam band i really ever listened to, even before ever really listening to the dead. I loved almost every show i went to, they made me full of love, laughter and good times, and i miss it.

you think? i'm not too sure about that... plus who knows how goo that'll be... i mean trey did a really good job IMO at the phil shows.. i think the Phuo (Mike, Trey and Benevento/Russo duo) were great.. but i dunno if the band will get back together again... and be what they were...

I'll still see them though.

Well when trey played in atlanta he said that they didn't break up and its more a haitus. And then there is grab with trey and mike playing phish songs. and now fisman and page are doing stuff. I think once page finishes up his album this year that it'll happen. Why would trey say second haitus if it isn't true? Hopefully it won't suck.

Not too soon, hopefully...take their time, let Trey get his head straight, let Page get his head straight, let the hangers on lose interest (in an article a while back, trey mentioned something about the coventry guest list being like 2500 people or something, and hangers on darkening things real good backstage).

I was listening to the Clifford Ball over the weekend. If they can get back to a level of creativity, energy, or spirit like that in some new way between the four of them, I'd welcome it. Otherwise, let it go.

yea but in interviews he's also pretty much negated all the rumours about a reunion tour saying that it's over and gone and they just aren't gonna get back together. Who knows...

But when i saw Grab this past summer they didn't play ANY phish songs... none. Not even when Page came out in VT

The only phishy thing i've heard the Duo do is their bonnaroo set from last year with Mike, they played Foam and Mike's song. (great set btw you should DL it from the Archives if you haven't heard it yet, it really put such a smile on my face cause the crowd is singing the words the whole time, to BOTH songs. fucking great moment)

I really miss them ALOT. I agree though, I think they need more time before they could really do anything meaningful together again. I really wish I could have seen Trey and Mike this summer, but they didn't venture out anywhere near the NW at all.

Phish took too much acid and had a bad trip so they got all religious on our asses and tried to go with the christian rock band thing.

based on the shit trey and mike were playing this summer, if phish does come back, it'll be more as trey's (ego's) backing-band :frown:

what i'd like to see is sts9 play big open venues w/ lots and nearby camping.

as far as Trey+Mike+Duo....if trey and mike...are going to play together in a four piece band...then why the hell do they waste their time with the duo..just get back together with fish and page!

bty...when i saw trey/mike/duo...it was one big mind fuck...i didnt like it at all.

I first saw Phish live in '92 at the first annual Laguna Seca Daze festival. The last time I saw them was in Seattle in '96.

The best show I ever saw was at San Diego State University (don't remember the year, 'Hoist' had just come out). It was in a small gymnasium setting. No seating, standing room only on a basketball court with a stage at one side. The venue was small enough that they did a couple of acoustic songs with no electronic amplification! Literally an acoustic guitar, a washboard, and thier voices...no mics! I consider myself very lucky to have seen Phish in such an intimate setting.

I feel you. Listen to some old Phish if you haven't in a while. Like, something sweet from '92. It's blossoming and fun and really adventurous. Adventurous is the key, and I think trey's pushed his limits and found his place. Its not so much his ego as it is that in taking everyone there, he's got that pressure to maintain that space. My friend and I had this disucussion just before the band announced the split, that Page was the most interesting, creative player in the band and that Vida Blue was really excellent music, the best of the side projects. The direction he was taking the music was appropriate for now, and for the moment. I wonder what itd sound like if they'd have been able to make a hard right as a band, but maintain their pace...

shows in cities can be good fun, don't get me wrong. and they usually have better sound-systems. but it'd be pretty expensive to follow sts9 around unless you had something tiny and valuable to sell, or a trust-fund

The only problem with the IT DVD is that it was only "bonus" songs and not complete sets. I really liked what Trey had to say, and the rest of the band as well. He is a spacebag...and that's why I like him so much. He does sound hoaky and like a dumbass at times, but I dont care because he's sincere and the stuff he's talking about is going to sound like hippie psychobabble until you get it. Then its just nodding and smiling at trey thinking...yeah, yeah...you hoaky spacebag, you tell em. Yeah.

I want big cypress on DVD. Oh yeah-- I'm at least settled in my new room and will start ripping clifford ball in a bit. I can only find 3 of the 4 discs right now. I'll PM you later.
