I'd argue that as long as you're not hurting someone else you can do whatever you want with your body.  It's an inherent right that you're born with.  Laws can't take that away from you.  Nobody can argue that philosophically.

If you want to live in America as a free person you either have to obey the laws put in place or break the laws when no person of authority is looking.  You have two choices, and only two choices, if you want to stay free.  If you don't like America's drug laws and think that people have the "right" to use drugs because they're born with that "right" then you either have to risk getting busted to get high, even in a private residence where cops could bust in at any time, and possibly defend yourself in court one day hoping that you will be able to talk your way out of drug charges (which you probably won't be able to if there's sufficient evidence you had drugs in your possession) or you have to move to a country that tolerates drugs.

And you might as well stop looking for supposed loopholes in amendments to defend your "rights" as a human being because the courts have never and probably will never pay attention to the supposed loopholes you point out to them, they will simply ask if you're breaking a law and if you are then you're guilty and they will sentence you.  It's that simple.  You can't talk your way out of evading laws by claiming that there are either loopholes in amendments or by saying that amendments don't matter.  People in authority will see things differently, and a jury of your peers who AREN'T drug users will not be on your side, as the judge will not be on your side.  You can argue all you want, you'll still lose and have to pay for breaking the law in the first place.

There is nothing morally wrong with it.  They are the same people as we are.  And the government CAN'T count on the military to suppress its own citizens.  Most of the people I know in the military hate the fucking government worse then the average citizen does.

In fact military are BOUND by oath to resist against an oppressive government--an oppressive tyrannical government is a domestic enemy.  They are bound to uphold the constitution.

Kevorkian had every right to do what he did.  The patients were begging him to do it.  They were going through intolerable suffering and the only way out for them was to die.  Kevorkian offered them a peaceful and dignified end.

Kevorkian didn't have the "right" to do what he did according to the laws of our country, that's simply your own personal opinion and it won't stand up in court.  If a patient is suicidal, doctors are obligated by law to put them on a 72 hour psych hold, not help them kill themselves.

The laws of our country are obsolete and need to be changed.  That's exactly why Kevorkian did what he did.  I'm aware that the laws say you need to prevent suicide at all costs though.

I didn't consider the other option you mentioned because in my lifetime the only drug that you could vote for becoming legal is weed, not other "harder" drugs, and no presidential candidate that has been around in my lifetime has said they would repeal the drug laws entirely.  Only weed has been addressed.

And I didn't mention the latter option you mentioned about overthrowing the government because I don't see how one would go about "overthrowing" the government without having a majority of the American people on your side willing to overthrow the government, too.  And I don't find the government in America to be that bad.  It's not perfect, but I'd rather live here than any other country in the world, which is why I do.  I'd rather move to a different country before trying to start a massive movement to overthrow the government if I felt that the government in our country was completely out of line.

If you feel that way you should go out and vote to change things.  If you can't currently vote for things like having the right to commit suicide or the right to have assisted suicide, go into office and introduce to people the right to vote on that issue.  If you do that, maybe enough other people will feel the same way as you can that law can be changed.

That's all you can really do if you want to take action on the issue.

The 9th amendment.:ancientaliens: I dunno man.  I think ending your life on your own terms when you're suffering is a fundamental right that every American should have.  But yeah, it's not there in plain writing but who cares.

You're right.  I'm not sure how far it would go in state like Georgia though.  I guess I could run for congress when I turn 25 but I have no qualifications.

If there was a law allowing doctors to assist patients in suicide if they were (for example) terminally ill, you'd have to have something like a waiver that the patient signs so he can consent to being assisted with suicide so the doctor doesn't get sued later by grieving families, and the law would have to determine what kinds of illnesses to "treat" with assisted suicide.

There's already euthanasia laws in Oregon, Washington, and Montana.  But I think they are obsolete laws because the doctors can't take part in the process and if the patient is immobilized and can't swallow then they can't be helped.  I think the law needs to allow the doctors full reign of helping the patient without legal repercussions.  I think this should be taken care of on a case by case basis because everybody has different situations.

it would probably go much further than you think, in 1980 we were the first
state in the US to pass a medical marijuana law and had the state supplying
the weed to the patients free of charge, unfortunately the state legislature
defunded it because of the recession the US was in and it was never picked
back up

I heard of that the other day.  It was actually Newt Gingrich who introduced that law haha.
