Hm...interesting. So far the consensus seems to be leaning towards the positive rather than the negative.

that total recall avatar is currently the coolest one around since electrode dropped the Indiana Jones face melting one. I was in the mil it was definitely cool, I refuse the poll though. Oh yeah I got kicked out of the mil for failing a Urine Analysis test for weed. Not kicked out on purpose or anything I just really like the chronic.

I served 6 years in the Air Force.
I have been a pacifist my whole life, other than a 3 year period when I was a devout Christian. Ironic, huh?
At that time I joined the military to serve "God and Country".
After regaining my pacifistic nature and losing my religion, I wanted out. I wanted to serve honorably, but wanted out. I just got out this January after just under 6 years.
It was okay while I was into what I was doing. If you are against war, then it's not for you. It sucked always having the whole deployment thing looming over you, threatening to seperate you from your family at a moment's notice. You also have to take shit from everyone...I really don't like it and would never advise anyone to join.

I was in the Marines for 4 years. It certainly wasn't the life for me. I have a severe distaste for any type of authority whatsoever so you can probably see where that might cause a problem in the military. Sometimes I wonder if I joined just to piss em off, hehe. I did get to see almost every county in europe and trade hot lead with some fine folks in iraq so I wouldn't say it was all bad.

I am in the military now. I hate it. I have met some seriously cool people and have seen some fuckin' awesome places but the cons definately outwiegh the pros. 121 days left till freedom.

I know a few people in the military(some of them currently fighting in Iraq), and there is no consensus on it. One guy I know who got back from S. Korea a while back says he hates it. Then there's this couple I know that's in Iraq right now, and even though they hate Bush and presumably are against the war, they're still proud to serve their country, right or wrong. Another guy I know who got out on a medical discharge says he's thinking about re-enlisting.

Paradigm, I think the military would be great for you. You should consider joining, and before you do, put aside your philosophies for a little bit, and see where the army takes you.
