▲ Spirit Art Portraits ▲
    #16723515 -

This guy draws your dead relatives without even knowing or meeting them. I may have an appointment for November. I'm hoping he channels my old dog. Me and that fella were down like 4 flat tires.

"Joseph Shiel has two types of mediumship sessions that include his spirit art.  One gives the client a portrait of one person in Spirit, the other gives the client what Joe calls a 'multi-person' Spirit drawing.  Below are examples of Joseph's Spirit Art.  Included with each portrait/drawing are the photographs his clients have provided, after they've gone home and found them, to validate his work.  Please see his 'Readings' link for information on his sessions."

If multiple people have independently confirmed accurate portraits of dead relatives, how is it a scam?

Assuming he does have a scam set up, news would spread fast and he wouldn't be able to continue it seems. It's not akin to vague psychic readings (or mediumship) that can be passed off in perpetual ambiguity. Either the family recognizes the individual he drew, or it was made up.

I'm unbiased either way. I'd have to see it myself. But I don't see how it could be a scam. I doubt he's buying a second house in Miami or funding his retirement fund by drawing dead people with a number 2 pencil.

yea this is bullshit.

obviously he had previously looked at the pictures, or he had actuially been looking at them when they were drawn.

i mean the one with the hat is a dead give away.

Possibly.

To be fair, he looks to be one of those guys that wear a hat every day of his life. I've known my share of such types.

Look at the one with the hat. He drew the portrait with a t-shirt on, whereas in the picture he has a collared shirt with a slit at the neck. Why would he omit that detail if he's drawing from a picture?

:wtfsonic: to better convince you that he "sees dead people"

isn't it obvious?

So he omitted a small detail to make it look more genuine?

The world is full of crazy and peculiar people: adults who wear diapers, women tattooing their assholes, folks having sex with donkeys, and so on. Scams, charlatans, pyramid schemes, and quacks also abound.

But given the plethora of evidence compiled across history about UFOs, parapsychology anomalies with pre-cognition and clairvoyance, near death experiences, etc. I believe the seemingly impossible can be possible. These things slip through the cracks.

There's also this completely whack-o group of people in the Amazon who believe that drinking a tea brewed with vines and dead leaves puts them in touch with the divine... what scammers.

Stan Grof (who pioneered LSD Psychotherapy) has documented these kinds of phenomena for decades. He's held prestige academic positions and has collaborated on research with numerous doctors. Past-life experiences, channeling the dead, re-living traumatic birth experiences, recalling historical details from centuries ago, etc. have all been documented.

He has contact with the spirits of the dead and this is the best he can come up with?  Man, what a waste...

I doubt he's capable of influencing it with his will, no more than a schizophrenia gets to choose what types of voices they hear and when they hear them.

I think its like fortune tellers, his pictures are generic enough that they can be seen as the relatives, just as a fortune teller can say something generic that is bound to happen.

Also possible.

But how many dead relatives can a person possibly have for comparison? My family has only had a few people die that we know personally.

If no women have died yet (except for, say, a grandmother who only had one eye since birth) - and the dude draws a woman with an eye, we can sling peanuty poop at his face and call bluff.

I would guess that has in fact happened, except maybe the poop.

Yes, I really doubt he advertises the ones that were absolutely awful failures.

But he lives in Lily Dale, NY - which is an enclave for "spiritualist mediums" that (supposedly) have standards and tests to prove authenticity. I imagine if he developed a bad reputation or failed to produce solid results, he would get called out or ex-communicated.

Or maybe they're all in on the same scheme.
