Extreme pressure & pain in the tailbone area

I woke up with this around 3:00 this morning. It's the second time it's happened to me. I can handle pain very well, and brush off all but the really serious stuff. This was serious. It felt similar to constipation, but not quite at the right spot, and my bowel movements are normal. Nor did I did I need to defecate at that hour. I did some searching, and none of the explanations seemed close except for radiant pain due to a strained back, and another one involving muscle contractions in that area. I'm in good shape, and look after my back, though today it feels sore. I was doing a lot of outdoor work yesterday. Muscular contraction seems about right; it felt like a Charlie horse in my ass.

Anyone else ever get this?

Never heard of that.. Can you sit normally? Ive bruised my tailbone and it's extremely painfull. You can't sit, or move freely. And it takes a long time to heel. If you can take a dump and it doesn't hurt, I wouldn't say it's your tailbone. But I'd go talk to a doctor. No amount of working out or what ever will make your tailbone hurt. You have to hit it. Can you push on it with your fingers to see if it hurts?

Yeah I can sit normally. I didn't hit it or anything. It's not necessarily the tailbone, but the area around it. I did a little research, and the thing that makes the most sense is straining the sacral & or lumbar vertebrae. Inflammation of tendons in that area can cause Charlie horse style contractions of muscles in the anal canal, as well as other areas of the colon & hamstring muscles. My tailbone is fine now, but my lower back is a little sore, as are my hamstrings......there's a tightness, akin with the day after a serious Charlie horse.

It's only happened to me once before. I'm going to keep an eye on it, and if it continues I'll definitely be visiting my GP.

yeah it definitely just sounds like a strained muscle. yoga could help with that, depending on the poses you do.
i actually fractured (or possibly broke) my tailbone over a year ago and it still hurts sometimes. never bothered going to a doctor because i have a friend who broke their tailbone and he said all they do is give you a donut pillow to sit on. i don't need to spend a bunch of money for some dr. to tell me what i already know.
i digress, but yoga helps with my butt pain lol.

dont rule a pilonidal cyst. Check your ass crack in the mirror just to be safe. I had one that got bad fast and it sucked.

Yeah that was one of my first thoughts. I felt all around the area & didn't feel anything abnormal though.

I'll have to look into yoga Clara. Are there any easy poses that I could learn on my own? I'm about to have no time for any yoga classes.
