Itunes Alternatives?
    #16691134 -

Every few months it seems like my iTunes just blows up.  The only thing that stops me from getting rid of it altogether is over ten years worth of metadata like play counts and stuff that I have a whole system of smart playlists built around.  Anyone know of a way to export this stuff out of iTunes, or any alternatives that can at least replicate this type of functionality?  Also I have an iPod and use a windows PC. Thanks in advance!

Yeah, foobar all the way.

I wonder if Apple would have the clout they do now if it weren't for all the poor saps who feel tied to fucking iTunes. iProducts, lol.

I've never owned an apple product, but like said before try foobar2000 with the ipod extension. It should work.

Look into Amarok--you won't be able to save your metadata, and getting your iPod to work will take some fiddling (that's how Apple has it set up with their tech though), but the player itself is incredibly intuitive--I enjoy it very much.

this

Others will do the job the same maybe even more features like media monkey but I find all are a pain except winamp.
MediaMonkey can kinda view music like Itunes tho.

Winamps default skin is pretty good, check out the transparency too under window settings if you get it. settings is the orange button.

Spotify is pretty awesome IMO. I don't think you get ads on your own music. Only the songs you stream

Thanks for all the suggestions!  You know I thought about Spotify but apparently you have to have a Facebook account and I'm not sure it's worth reactivating Facebook for that.  I've used Winamp loooong ago before iTunes.  I didn't know it saved metadata.  Is that what Milkdrop does? I guess in the meantime I'll have to give Fubar a try.  If I can at least get my top 1500 Most Played songs playlist out of iTunes (even as a manual playlist) I guess I'd be a happy man!

Your on a PC and you use iTunes? itunes was optimized for Mac, the transcoding to PC is terrible and theres probably not a worse media play out there for windows.

PC - foobar2000, winamp, media monkey, Jriver
Mac - iTunes

Spotifys also good for either but found ads annoying, and theres no way i'm paying some company £10 a month to listen to music.
