We all agree we should have licenses to drive cars, I have no idea why people wouldn't agree to have licenses for lethal weapons.
The prevailing argument seems to be that any jackass should be able to get a gun without question, and that is somehow supposed to solve the problem that any jackass can get a gun without question.

After Hurricane Katrina , there were orders to confiscate guns from legal gun owners in New Orleans. So that left a lot of innocent people easy prey for the armed murderers of New Orleans, most of which probably bought their guns off the street (but that's just my guess). Without a very functional police force at the time, and with many 'average' citizens being unarmed, the murder rate was insane, and the victims were often just average people going about their business.

Don't think gun control couldn't get out of hand. Look into what happened in New Orleans. I don't have all the details handy but you can look into it.

that was the New Orleans Police department response to the shootings that
were already occurring, the national guard wasnt taking guns and I can say
without a doubt that if I were there, those cops would find themselves in a
pickle if they attempted to take my arms. only one question to be asked "who
wants the first bullet"

The real question here is how did they know who had guns? I know that most states dont keep lists.

Maybe you should have read the second post in this thread.

But as a further update
Quote:
At least seven people were killed, including one shooter, just after 10 a.m. Sunday at the Sikh Temple in Oak Creek, police said.

Four of the dead were inside the temple at 7512 S. Howell Ave. and three of the dead, including a shooter, were outside the temple.

Quote:
The first officer on the scene Sunday morning encountered an active shooter and exchanged fire with him, according to Greenfield Police Chief Bradley Wentlandt who briefed media on the scene.

The shooter went down and is believed to be dead, said Wentlandt. He said authorities had no evidence of a second shooter.

Wentlandt said the officer was hit multiple times, but is expected to survive. He said the officer was a 20-year veteran and "an extremely accomplished tactical officer." He was taken to Froedtert Hospital in Wauwatosa where he was in surgery just before 2 p.m.

they didnt, they went door to door asking for the guns, searching houses
whether occupied or vacant, it was blatant violations of the constitution
by the new orleans police department and they git the fuck sued out of them
for it... I dont then they have any fuck left in them

Well, then you gotta hide your guns, and be ready to lie through your teeth when the cops knock on your door. My Personal preference is to not answer the door for the cops.

also... Apparently they're just giving away guns.

Quote:
as of early 2008, many firearms were still in police possession, and the matter was still in court.[77] The matter was finally settled in favor of the NRA in October 2008. Per the agreement, the city was required to relax the strict proof of ownership requirements previously used, and was to release firearms to their owners with an affidavit claiming ownership and a background check to verify that the owner is legally able to possess a firearm

IT wouldnt be too hard to walk in with the name of a common make/model, and walk out with someone elses guns, especially if you knew someone that worked in the evidence room... you just have to know that someone is taking advantage of claiming the unclaimed weapons.

well at the very least i think the availability of guns needs to be severely controlled. i think it's almost to the point now in america where it wont even make a difference if they do remove the right to bear arms. because there are that many guns in circulation, and they are that accessible to people, that any psychotic type who wants to go on a murdering spree is going to be able to get the weapons he needs to do so.

or possibly the high powered semi-automatic rifles should be taken off the market. because really, i can't think of any legitimate use for those.

I don't know how to tell you this, but you are flat out wrong. Every state that controls firearms ends up making crime go up even more. You should take sometime to read the facts about owning firearms instead of just opening your mouth and letting bullshit spew out.

As the song goes, God has left Mexico wihich is amusing to me.  This old argument, New York has some of the strictest gun control laws but people go to Virginia to purchase where they don't.  There is no way Americans would ever go for an open ban on guns, won't happen, just more automatic weapons getting illegalized.
