People will just start buying two, they've done a similar ban in Washington State and all they did was come out with a different sized cup and actually made them bigger, fail. They specified that drinks of a certain size couldn't be sold but they said nothing about larger drinks.

I agree with Bloomberg. The problem is financial, and it is childhood diabetes. Any adult can afford a 2nd small beverage. The majority affected are kids. overweight, little shits who eat anything they see, and  then get sick and  put the medical burden on the state. Trim a few pounds off the chubbies and save the state millions.

The real penalty is having to pay for an 11 year old's insulin, pills, and other costly shit. Just because people are stupid doesn't mean we shouldn't help them and help keep our taxes down in the process.

I'm not paying for insulin, why should I pay for the stupidity of others, let
them pay for their own stupidity, they know better. want me to pay for the
care of a child in the care of stupid parents, take the kid from the parents
and put them in a home with someone that isnt a complete retard that's trying
to kill the kid otherwise leave them be and when the child dies, execute the
stupid parent for child neglect resulting in death

Shit I remember when I went over to my friends house in 5th grade eating constant junk food.
It wasn't 'cause the parents didn't have ordinary food that's just what kids prefer, man I remember his mothers dinner. Either way unless you can somehow control what they eat outside of home they'll get into junk.

Not to mention my school had my favorite junk food they'd order shit straight from band name companies like Quaker, so they'd be the only source around for my favorite stuff, there's certain stuff companies will only sell to school, I've called them.

Its not like 40% of youth has a genetic predisposition to be fat.  These are bad food habits taught to them by society, by parents who consider McD a restaurant and by fast food deep frying school cafetaria.

Its taught them and the kids end up victimized by it for the rest of their lives. If you've been a huge teen there is NO way back unless you are a freak of nature. Your metabolism will be fucked for life, and childhood diabetes is just one symptom of the metabolic derangement.

Fast food reliance is a chronic poisoning that has lasting health consequences.

Just like with Assault Weapons bans, this will do absolutely zero in helping people not getting fat.  Not that the weapons ban caused people to get fat.  Just that if someone wanted an assault rifle with the proper resources, -cough--cough- MONEY, they could very easily get one or some.

I just wish these politicians would stop interfering with everyone's everyday affairs.

Like Guliani(SP?), Bloomberg is an ass trying to do too much.  Only if he focused on issues that really matter and could make a positive impact on every New Yorker's life.

What doesn't work about this ban aside from the obvious (it won't do a damn thing to curb obesity issues) is that it's nearly unenforceable.  First off, who enforces it?  Police?  Yeah right like a cop is going to bother, they barely give a shit about weed.  Public health inspectors?  They inspect restaurants all day every day but their visits are almost always announced ahead of time and there aren't enough of them to be a real problem considering the vast number of restaurants in the city.  Undercover busts, for selling too much soda?  Yeah right.  This shit's not going to work even if they pass the law.  Passing a law is easy.  It's about whether you can enforce the law.  They can't even control drugs, how the fuck are they going to get a hold of the large soda epidemic? :lol:

Do you really think a food stand operator or independently owned restaurants are going to take a chance on lost business by telling a customer no?  I'm sure they'll have larger cups already for the non-sugar drinks.  It's not like anyone's going report violations to the authorities.  Besides, how's that work?  Are [whoever enforces this law] going to ride around with sugar detectors and check people's beverages to make sure they're in the legal cup size?

And then, restaurants can just sell you two cups of the soda for the same price.  I bet there will be a loop hole in the bill where people can bring their own cups for "refills," or restaurants can sell you a large cup and offer to fill the cup with soda for free.  As long as the soda is advertised as "free" with purchase of a cup.  SO many ways.  Watch this shit fail.

But HOW?  A diet soda looks the same as a regular soda, sweet tea looks the same as regular tea.  How does that get enforced uniformly and efficiently?  Maybe I'm just ignorant to the extent of control NY state has on its restaurant industry.
