Re: I'm Building my First Bike! [Re: Maverick]
    #16431332 -

Got my bike frame, just ordered a saddle, cogs, rims, a chain and a nice crankset.  Here is the frame & fork:

I ordered a set of Vuelta Zerolite racing rims, this is what they look like, don't have them yet but:

I also have a nice bottom bracket by shimano on the way.

Just have to get the Tires, tubes, a headset and some spacers.  Tires will probably be the most expensive thing.

I've got some brakes already, and my buddy has some pedals he's going to give me.

They're on their way, I don't know if they're assembled or not.  That's just a picture from the place i ordered them from.  Never trued a wheel before.

MORE BAD LUCK!

Idiots sent me Rims with hubs for a multispeed bike, not a track bike/flipflop hub.  Fuckin shit.  Not gonna have it built by the 4th unfortunately.  :frown:

I've never had this much trouble with shit ordering online ever.  I've built at least a dozen PCs, Never had this much trouble.  One DOA, but never wrong shit.

Fuck.  :kingcrankey:

It'll be worth it when it's done, but companies are gonna get zero ratings for this one.

SHE'S ALMOST DONE!!! :awethumb:

I still have to buy some pedals and brakes... I'll be doing that tomorrow, and I'll be taking it to the bike project shop here in town and get some help pressing the headset together and measuring out how much of the fork I need to cut off, and then it should be legit!

I want to get a stencil cut by a CNC so I can make some perfect emblems of my own.  Dunno what to do with it, I aws thinking an Initial D colorscheme because it's black and white, but dunno...  My best friend has the other frame (the damaged one) and he fixed it with a ballpeen, and he's painting it Ferrari Cherry Red, with carbon fibre fork and black heh.

Any cool suggestions for a colorscheme or something?

i kinda have a thing for black and white

that 86 paintscheme would be badass stenciled on or some really elaborate repeating pinstripe designs would take it to the next level

Pressing a headset is pretty easy.  Rubber mallet, piece of wood, and be careful.

The crown race that goes on the fork can't really be done without a slide hammer though.

Yeah the bike project place here lets you work on your bike and use any tool you need for like 6$ an hour.  Not a bad rate, since I dont' have a lot of the tools here

As for it being white, I need to get someone with a CNC machine to cut me out stencils.
