Calvin Johnson is the best receiver on the planet.

This is a really random topic -- especially considering that the NFL season doesn't start for another couple of months. But I was just bored running through various sports highlights on Youtube and came across this gem. It's Calvin Johnson's highlights from this past season in a whole package. This season only.

There's no debate. Calvin Johnson is BY FAR the best WR on the planet. It's not even close. In fact, there's not even another receiver in the same hemisphere as him. Fitzgerald, Roddy White, Cruz, Welker....they're all second tier.

96 catches, 1,681 yards (led league), 16 tds (second in league), 105 yards a game (led league), 18 yards a catch, and 211 yards and 2 touchdowns in his lone playoff game. Dude is a boss.

He can very reasonably be considered the best.  He has all the major attributes of a prototypical WR.

Dez Bryant has the potential to be very good too. Cant wait to see how the Cowboys do this season after doing a lot to make the defense better.

Actually the NFL is full of fantastic recievers now days, most of them could probably be playing in the NBA

I'm pretty sure that Andre is #1... He's more dominant more consistently.

Calvin has the tools to challenge him for that title, though.

There are a couple of guys who have the tools and skills to challenge for the title, nobody winds up being as consistent though.

Larry Fitz and Brandon Marshall both had QB woes last year, but they weren't as dominant as they could've been QB problems aside.

Andre is unbelievable. No doubt. To dismiss him as not being in the conversation would be disrespect of epic proportions. And when you look at the full body of work, Andre has been at or near the top for longer. That said though, right now, I'd take Calvin Johnson all day everyday.

He's just a freak, man. An unstoppable freak of nature. 6'5" with 4.3 speed and hands...dude. He's Randy Moss WITH discipline and the ability to go over the middle (unlike Randy)with ease.

Look, I'm not saying that Andre Johnson isn't the bomb. He is. He's an incredible receiver. But IMHO at this point in time nobody is on Calvin's  level. Ask Dallas last year when he caught a 43 yard touchdown on a TRIPLE TEAM.

He had a good QB for two years...but still puts up crazy numbers.

But after seeing what Fitz did last year once again puts him right there with Andre as being the #1 best in the NFL

Calvins only played 1 year so far and Detroit still sucks:facepalm3:

And he has only played one year?! Do you even watch football? He has been in the league for 5 years and has 5,900 yards. He averages as many yards per season as Andre and is 4 years younger. In 4 less seasons, he has 49 touchdowns to Andre's 52. Lololol. In FOUR more seasons he has just THREE more tds than Calvin. What the fuck, bro. He averages more yards per catch. Dude. He's just better, man. When it's all said and done Calvin's numbers will destroy Andre Johnson's.

Not to mention someone who talks about other teams sucking (even though said team made the playoffs) when their team has made the playoffs ONCE in the existence of their franchise. One trip to the playoffs in 11 years.
