Butternut Squash

#16170597 - 05/02/12 01:08 PM (14 years, 5 months ago)

So I'm inventing a leek soup with butternut squash instead of potato (and a hint of cloves to go with the squash) but I can't find the squash anywhere. Tried the local supermarket and a few farmer's markets but nothing.

Is this a seasonal thing? Most other seasonal stuff is available from greenhouse/hydroponic growers year round. Why not butternut squash?

Anyone in the know?

its a late fall squash, anything you find will have been stored since last years harvest...or be from another country/area.

It probably does not command a price that would justify the real estate of indoor growing.
