3..28 Weeks Later

Disagreed. 28 Days Later was great yes but the theme of it has already been done to death. Weeks is gorier and the efforts for containment etc are really well done.

Damn, it's really tough to only pick out 3.

I'd have to say:

Dawn of the Dead 2004, Planet Terror, and Night of the Living Dead 1990.

2: Fido
3: I don't know what to put here honestly, I loved Zombie Land, Lucio Fulci's Zombie, 28 days later, The Walking Dead...They all seem a basic variation from Romero's original trilogy to me.

Fido is more original than 99% of all Zombie movies, highly underrated imo.

1) Night of the Living Dead (1968)

2) Dawn of the Dead (1978)

3) Diary of the Dead (2007)

I know a lot of purists will say that my #3 is blasphemous but I though Diary was great! No one makes zombie movies better than Romero.

28 Days/Weeks are NOT zombie movies, they shouldn't be on the list! Though there is one "zombie" in one scene in 28 Weeks Later; in the scene where the helicopter chops through a bunch of infected with the blades, there's one lady that's cut in half crawling on the ground. You only see her for a split second but she's there! I thought Weeks and Days were both top notch movies though, equally good IMO.

Not to big on zombie flicks and I put off watching zombie land for so long cause I didn't see how they could make a zombie comedy but that movie was funny as hell definatly recommend watching it

3. 28 Weeks Later - Let me expand on this by saying that the first one had the potential to be superior, but when they started being more afraid of the horny soldiers than the zombies, I think it went downhill fast.

1. Pontypool. this movie is the best by a thousand miles
2. Dawn of the dead (remake)
3. The really old school black and white one where they end up in a house. Can't remember the name. sorry

i'd list the tv series the Walking Dead second if it were in movie form. Cannot wait for next season.

Shaun of the dead barely misses the cut and would have been 4th.

also,

the 28 days, weeks, etc. movies fucking sucked. all the transition scenes with terrible music and terrible camera angles ruin the movies.

That's the original, quintessential Night Of the Living Dead by George Romero. That started it all.

The remake of night of the living is my top favorite, its basically the same movie in color and the actors even look exactly like the ones from the original.
