Shpongle tonight!!!!!!!!

..obviously, I'm very excited! :thumbup::thumbup:

I've never had the opportunity to catch them live before.  It's a bit expensive for my taste but I'm not sure how long we have left with them or if I'll ever have the opportunity again.  I've splurged but have no doubt that I will enjoy myself.

I haven't yet picked my drug of choice (or really decide if I'm going to dose).  I really want to dose, but I do have to drive there and back.  I'm currently coming up with options to get around having to drive.  I would love to walk, but the areas in between my residence and the hall aren't the safest for a wandering solo tripper.

Anyone here who has seen them before?  Was it amazing?  Was it on this tour or a previous one?

It's 4.73 miles, according to MapQuest.

The distance doesn't concern me, rather the hoodlums in some areas in between.

I might walk there and catch a cab back.. though I don't want to have to spend the extra cash.

That really sucks! Tripped out biking is THE BEST!

I would suggest leaving the car if you can, it's a burden. But I also don't know a good free alternative. Could a friend drop you off or something?

I have someone that could drop me off, but not pick me up.  Biking would be fantastic! :lol:

I think I've worked out how I'm gonna manage this and still drive!  I'm gonna brew a slight tea, maybe 1.75-2.5g, and will down it in the parking lot before going in.  The parking lot is open all evening and no one will need the spots until the morning.  After I dose, I'll smoke up and head in.

The doors open at 8, so I don't imagine the show ending until 11-12ish which means I will have already peaked and be coming down.  This area of the city is on the water and is very upscale; I've found a well-lit trail around the harbor.  I figure if I don't meet some people to hang out with after, I can just walk this trail all the way around (this is much safer than plowing through the ghetto areas at 1-3am trying to manage my way home).

I'm confident that by time I've finished the trail I will be fine.. and if not I can just spend another hour or two in my car jamming out before heading home.

I've previously learned my lessons and am smart enough not to drive while intoxicated. :thumbup:

You're seriously even considering driving that?  Damn living in the states must suck ass - I've literally never been afraid of walking anywhere in Canada.  There's a couple very small areas in Toronto I might not want to walk, but 99% of it is completely fine.

There have been at least 10 e-mails sent out by my University Police about people getting pistol whipped, jumped, and robbed within the past two weeks after dark.  I live in a nicer area than that, but in between my home and the venue are some really rough areas (I don't keep up with the actual city news here).

I wouldn't mind as much if I knew I was sober and capable of thinking/reacting properly (though there's still a chance I'd get my ass beat).. but having that happen while I'm loaded?  No thanks. :thumbdown:

I just saw the Shpongle dj set with the Shpongletron. It was pretty sweet, I was on mushrooms. Seemed like he improvised a fair amount and of course the visuals were sweet. Lazers shooting through dmt smoke :smile2:

You should definitely dose for it. Pay for a cab, fuck it.

Haha I just read your previous post, that's almost exactly how I dosed. Chugged some tea in front of the venue, of similar potency.

I believe the Shpongletron tour is over now.. this one is entitled "Masquerade".  I'm not sure what the difference will be.  The Shpongletron setup looked fucking fantastic, though! ..I'm kinda hoping the whole crew is there playing live renditions of their songs.

I may very well take your advice and up my dosage.  I'm a bit anxious about the crowds but I think all will be well.

How was it?  That setup looks crazy!

I saw AN21 last night (brother of Steve Angello) and his set was AMAZING.  The atmosphere in the place was absolutely electric!

Thats definitly different than ths Shpongletron. Looks just as trippy tho! How was the show last night???

I will be seeing Shpongle at SummerCamp for sure. Maybe again when they come around locally.

Holy fuck.. the show was out of this world!!!  I had so much fun.  I don't think I stopped smiling the entire night. :lol:

The beginning was a bit rough as my tea kicked in (I took your advice and went for 3gs).  I felt very uncomfortable being in that setting and by myself; but, once the bands started up and crowds starting barging in, I was able to relax myself and get into the unity mindset.  I didn't know anyone there, but at the same time they all were incredibly loving and felt like family.  I've never tripped inside of a club, at a festival, or anything of the sort and it was fantastic.

There weren't very many sober people there.  We were all loaded up on something and everyone's pupils were telling their story.

You could literally see the vibe pulsating throughout the room.  I've never felt so much of that kind of love in one place and it blew me away at some points. You could also feel the mood and energy shift at each track/tempo/beat transition.  The entire club, minus those who I think didn't know who Shpongle was and were drinking in the back or trying to creep on women, was dancing and going wild.  Everyone was smiling, dancing together, showing off their moves, and spreading love, hugging, laughing, etc.  As I said above, my smile was a mile wide. 

There was even a guy posted up near the entrance with a painting easel.. he was definitely loaded and worked on that painting all night with nothing but a watercolor black ink out of a solo cup.  It was super fun to watch his piece transform throughout the night.  The music definitely had an effect on his artwork as well.

Outside in the smoking area, people were blazing up in the open.  Security guards were turning their heads.  Everything about the evening was perfect.

Phutureprimitive played before Shpongle and his set was awesome; he had a projector with mind blowing visuals as well.  He had much heavier bass and a sort of space-age psychedelic realm vibe.  I loved him.  And, of course, Shpongle killed it.  I have a few pictures and videos.  I will most definitely turn this evening into a full-blown trip report.

As the show ended, I was coming down.  There were many people inviting me to do things after and I really, really wanted to.. but I did know that I had work to get done today and they all lived pretty far out.  I didn't want to spend another day finding my way home.  I will surely plan around that next time.

All-in-all it was the best outting experience I've had.  I will never miss another Shpongle show that comes around again, that's for sure.  I've been Shpongled!

I'm glad you enjoyed your AN21 show!  I've not heard much by them but upon looking them up now I must say I enjoy them.  I appreciate your dosage advice.  I still wish I would have gone higher but I can't complain.

Some of the more sober ones, after the show, were complaining about how it wasn't worth $35.. I completely disagree.  I highly recommend that everyone go see them.

*EDIT*
Even though this was my first true "recreational" use (meaning I didn't plan to relax and rummage through my thoughts) it was still very spiritual.  My thoughts still raced occasionally and I did learn a lot about myself and have decided to make some changes in my life from these "revelations".

So glad you had a good time! My suggestion is that next time you go to the after parties.
I saw Shpongle last saturday, and it was amazing. My gf and I split a tea made from and eighth, and I also wish maybe we took more, but I was driving. I find that if I dance enough and stay till the end, my metabolism sobers me up enough to drive home.
Also, when I went to the bathroom about halfway through Shpongle's set, I was at the front and had to wind my way to the back of the room, and I got to see just how tripped out everyone looked. :smile: Tripping balls, the room was (yodavoice).
