First one for me last year was Wakarusa. The scene was good and the doses superb:thumbup:

I then hit up every single Michigan festival except EFF and Peacefest.
I brought the doses:thumbup:

My last festival was Bearcreek in Live Oak FL. Great scene except for obvious UC. The doses where pretty good for being November in Florida.

Yeah the weather can be cold. I was at the Galactic show last year and the temp got down to 27 degrees.
Ill be at Bearcreek again this year. I try to avoid Suwanee all together but i love Bearcreek. I had a buddy get popped with a bunch of work at Magfest this last October. Gotta be careful:eek:

No festivals last year for me, but i did a couple phish runs last summer. I actually prefer festivals but right now I don't have a solid group of friends to hit those up with. I do however have a solid group of guys and girls who love their phish. So it's looking like a handful of phish again this summer with some string cheese thrown in for good measure.

As long as their is traveling, music, and camping involved I am in to it. As far as the doe-sie-doe goes, its going to be a really good summer.

Auto-Summary
The Symbiosis Gathering - Pyramid Eclipse is a 5-day desert event with a solar eclipse alignment, featuring top DJs and workshops. The lineup includes artists like James Blake, Tipper, Claude VonStroke, and more. There's also a pre-party on bicycle day and a panel discussion hosted by Alex & Allyson Grey. Emissions - West Coast Bass Culture 2012 is another festival with a diverse lineup of electronic music artists, set in a forest clearing. There are several other smaller festivals and gatherings in the area throughout spring and summer.

I will be going to the Symbiosis Gathering - Pyramid Eclipse . Beautiful location, killer line up, lots of workshops, and the event is lined up geographically with the path of the solar eclipse next month. Tipper will be playing a set during the solar eclipse!!! Many variables coming together to make this an epic 5 day gathering in the desert.

I will also be attending Emissions - West Coast Bass Culture 2012

Quote:
It's time once again to gather in the forests of California and dance in the trees at the original 'Really Really Good' festival. This year Irie Cartel and Camp Questionmark are bringing to the stage well over 100 of the most progressive names in future bass, dubstep, hip-hop, glitch-hop, mid-tempo, and every other sub-genre of bass heavy bliss.

Emissions is not trying to be overly pretentious, but at the same time not mainstream at all. This festival is rooted in it's meticulously perfected, non-cookie cutter lineups that have been a literal who's who of artists on the edge of blowing up, as well as completely established. The birthplace festival for so many 'staples' at other events, artists like... Nit Grit, Minnesota, Helicopter Showdown & so many more. Cultivating a community feeling between the music & the people involved. Making it more centered and fulfilling to an appropriate size audience, intentionally working to not feel like a MASSive or industry event.

Providing you with 3 days of non-stop sonic serenades from 2+ stages unleashing the most satisfying styles of 2012. Lighting artists, stage artists, visual artists, alter creators, crafters, fire dancers, and so much more, are collaborating to mesmerize your eyes and enhance this event for your inevitable transcendence.

Beyond the boom, the entire event will feature alternative forms of interaction and creative exploration. Huge art displays, alters & installations, 'The Future of Bass' experimentation area. The Zen zone, complete with low-fi sound, chill melodic beats, tea house, & hookah sitting area. Community workshops scattered throughout the weekend on everything from art lessons to online music marketing skills. Unique artists & vendors will be set up in the central area the entire weekend displaying there contributions to the family. All taking place in a beautiful clearing within an oak tree forest, creating a perfect fusion of nature and technology.

Emissions is a community event dedicated to bringing the electronic bass tribe together to celebrate our ever growing and evolving culture. We are not here to force our beliefs on you, but to facilitate you enjoying yours. Come prepared to get down with the crew while making west coast bass culture history.

We are at a brand new location this year that is about 1000 feet lower in elevation than last year. This means NO SNOW!!! Our first tier of tickets will go on sale soon, and will sell out fast! We will also post info on volunteering very soon.

You picked a good summer to get Back On the Train. They've really got a pretty sweet line up of locations and dates for leg 1 and leg 2. Especially leg 2 with all the new/less commonly played spots. I'm all ready feeling good stuff about this summer and its still a month and a half away! it's 2012!

Last summer I went to Bear creek, Blackwater and wakarusa. The vibe at suwanee river is awesome. Great people and atmosphere. Incredible venue. I suggest hitting up a festy there. But like lysergic said, you have to watch your ass out there.. I know a few diff people who have been busted out there.. Once I even saw cops chillin in the woods spying on people. As long as your partying smart, you're good.

Wakarusa was amazing. I love the vibe there. So many good people and very lax security. I seen some doses going around, but it was nothing like the previous year. Maybe it was bad luck, but all I found was weak liquid and a few doses that were from friends private stashes. My only complaint was the heat. I wouldn't go again without an RV.

This year I will be going to Electric Forest. I haven't been to this festival site yet and I hear it's incredible.. I wish there were a few more jambands/bluegrass bands playing, but I'm sure it'll be a great time. I just hope it won't be a bunch of 16 y/o kids running around blasting skrillex.. I'm sure I will end up meeting some cool like minded people.

Suwanee park is actually my favored festival location. The cop presence suck thats for sure. But in a way it is also nice. Keeps people from doing stupid shit. Like cherry bombing the porto potties. I just wouldn't sell drugs there. Not a good idea.

As for Wakarusa, The heat was too much for my way up north white ass.
It was kinda hard to go and enjoy shows outside during the day. I was either in front of my o2 fan, or in the river. But either way, it is a good festival. They make a point to keep out LEO and nitrous. It pretty easy to get away with whatever you want:thumbup: Also saw some great shows at both venues.

At Bearcreek i was on the front gate for Medeski Scofield Martin & Wood and Trey Anastasio Band.
If anyone in or around Michigan are interested in going to small festivals/jamborees let me know. I work most all of them in the summer and i know of great undiscovered festivals.

See, I always hear stories about some festivals having cops, ass-hole security, and problems with nitrous...Any one of those things have the potential to totally ruin the vibe of the weekend for me.

All of the festivals & gatherings I've been to have been on private property or way out in the cuts, so there is absolutely no cops/law enforcement present. The security, you will never know they're there as they blend in with the crowd and really don't care about a damn thing...and even with multiple groups/crews of people bringing in nitrous tanks, I have never seen a problem arise from it.

I like being able to pack a bowl and smoke anywhere, being able to act freely and do what ever I damn please so as long as I'm not harming another, being able to talk about & do "thangs" out in the open with no worries.

I honestly think I'd be a little :paranoid: going to some of the bigger festivals back east and the mid-west. Things seem different over there for some reason  .
