How would I have a tattoo artist sketch an example of a sleeve tattoo concept I have?

I want to get a sleeve tattoo on my right arm to draw attention away from the tat on the crook of my elbow (obvious junkie tat). I want to get basically crows and hyper-realistic eyes, which is an esoteric symbolism to a personal event that I feel no need to diverge. How do I go about getting a sketch for such a thing? I was going to ask my friend who does tattoos in town, but then facebook got all retarded on me, and I figured I'd forget to ask.
Couldja help me out?

as gooch or rebecca would tell you, simply ask. most tattooists will be more
than happy to consult with you on the work you want done, they'll do a few
rough sketches for your input and then make any changes you want before doing
the ink. most prefer to do custom work as opposed to shit from a flash
because the custom work allows them to show off their talent and skills

Cool. It just seemed like I would be pressured to go with them after the sketch, otherwise wasting their time while I shop around.

Shop around first. Figure out where you want it done and who you want to do it. Then have them sketch it up.
