It's certainly impressive from a technical stand point. Balls to the wall from the start, so there's not much of a sense of rising tension or climax.

Hell Yeah, I like a drummer not for the speed, but for the beats they play.

Gene Hoglan, Sean Reinert, and Pete Sandoval have always been my favorites in the genre.

Haven't really followed musicians in a long time so I don't know the new breed. But every time one is posted it's a how fast can you hit the snare challenge. Wasn't impressed with the first video at all in the OP.

I watched the video but I didn't see anything that indicated abnormal mental or behavioral patterns in the drummer.

in my opinion. danny carey. the way he separates himself to accomplish complex poly-rhythms is incredible. sometimes you wont hear it or understand the mathematics until youve listened several times, but most his music hes incorporating off-beats that would stump shredder drummers.





I will say that second video of the guy standing up was amazing though. I still dig careys ability to make you meditate on the drumming experience.

I could see purists having an issue with triggers but I don't mind them, it just makes for a cleaner sound in my opinion. Nothing differant than using distortion or other affects on a guitar.
Oh I remember all the debates and arguments back in my highschool days between my friends :lol:

Granted I like some electronic music to a ticky bass drum doesn't bother me at all. Beats taping quarters to the drum heads.
