Time and Dream World question.
    #15914579 -

I know time doesn't exist and don't want to debate about what time is and this and that. I really don't understand it myself, but I want to know has anyone ever lasted what seems days or even years in a dream? To go and stay in a dream that seem to last forever. Last night I had a dream where I had an out of body experience and felt like I was a spirit or ghost. I was touching the walls and rubbing object and I could keep this up for about I'd say 10 earth minutes, more or less. The reason why I think I woke up was because my little dog, from the dream was biting me so I lost concentration. So I'm thinking, if lets say you're a skillful out of body dreamer, can you lets say stay in a dream world for days, years or even forever? Usually when I have these dreams, I wake up because something tries to scare me but lets say I developed a technique to face my fears, I think I can last in a dream world for relatively a long time but this is just a theory. What do you guys think? There's no way to get stuck in a dream world? I'm fascinated with this subject because I have 3-4 dreams a night I can remember when I wake up and at least one crazy lucid dream a week that i know I'm dreaming. So anyway, can people stay in a dream relatively long compared to what earth hours feel like and has anyone ever tried it? Thanks

Not sure about dreaming, but I had a friend who tried salvia and felt like he was gone for days. Once he started to come out of it he realized it was the same day, but panicked and asked me if I had taken the biscuits out of the oven. I told him they wouldn't be ready for another twenty minutes and he was astonished. He says he met people and went to strange places.

check out this thread if you are interested in exploring your uncertainty regarding time.

On the timing and dreaming topic, it's my understanding that our current sleep cycle only allows 15-20 minutes of dreaming per cycle. Each cycle is about 85 minutes and ends or starts, depending on how you want to look at it, when we go into dreaming again.

The question, I suppose, is whether or not we could stay in the dreaming stage once we are aware of being in it. You, because you have a weekly occurrence of lucid dreaming, should be better able to answer this than those like myself who only rarely lucid dream.

It sounds to me like you should start a dream journal. I am inclined to believe, after hearing this from many different sources, that dreams are our personal world reflected in symbols. The symbols, therefore, do not reflect the state of the earthly world, but of our inner world, our inner crisis or our inner peace, etc. What the symbols mean, then, becomes a task of identification. The best way to do this is using what my spiritual-psychology ladyfriend calls dreamwork.

Essentially, you first write or draw everything you remember from the dream(s) upon waking. Then you revisit what you wrote/drew and freely associate whatever words or ideas come to mind when you consider what you are looking at. I recommend meditating just prior to free association so that your mind is a bit clearer before you go to your dream journal and attempt interpretation.

hope this helps :peace::heart:

man.. this is what I'm trying to get at. Your friend obviously felt or knew that he had been somewhere that did not feel like it would just be 20 minutes.. it seem way longer. So in a dream, we could just be sleeping for an avarage of 7 hours a night, with multiple dreams going on and off during sleep states and still living in other worlds like we do here in real life but just don't remember the whole thing and make itself seem just a short instant.. Man.. maybe people are dreaming me right now as im typing this lol

Oh I do keep a dream journal and it has helped me. The thing is I can't mediate or know how to. Everytime I attempt this, especially at night, I get more frightened. It's not peaceful. I start seeing little windows and faces, usually grey and sort of demonic looking. I start seeing big blue orbs and black clouds and stars. I think I'm afraid of going beyond this point so i stiop. I thought meditation was blank and peaceful but it's not for me or I'm probably doing it all wrong so i try to avoid it. Almost makes me feel "schizophrenic" because my minds just brings out fear.. and then it wont let me sleep.

I think you meant "meditate" there?
Check out this one.

And regardless, free association is possible without meditation.
However, I'm of the opinion you should face those demons and that fear.
