Is Kony 2012 a scam?

I've been hearing a lot about something like 33% of donations don't go to the charity, and stuff like that... what do you think?




Also, we're supposed to put up posters on 4/20. Coincidence, or do they want the smell of weed pouring through everybody's window as well? :gethigh:

if only 33% ends up in the pockets of the people running the show and
advertising, etc... they're far less of a scam than others, often times
5%-30% is what makes it to it's destination... take peta for example,
nearly all their cash goes to exec pay, telemarketers, celeb endorsements
and promotion, a small percentage goes to putting animals down because
they arent actually in the business of helping them

So what if a portion of the money goes to those who run the show. Better that money go into the pockets of people who are trying to make a difference, even if you think that difference could be better, than going into the pockets of people who don't give a fuck about humanity like phillip morris.

Now everyone supports it

This was an engineered effort with a hidden agenda

This is going to start a war, and probably was designed to

BTW if this effort isn't malicious in nature, studying the social implications are fascinating anyhow

A little digging has shown me that they are in fact a charity organization and cannot profit, which is nice, except that the organization’s three filmmakers and co-founders receive a combined pay of $223,922 and in addition, Invisible Children holds the following assets: computer equipment ($751,000), transportation equipment ($288,762), video and camera equipment ($177,769), and furniture and fixtures ($45,361). (Source 1)(Source 2). The first source tells us that Invisible Children is very good with their money: Everything checks out and is accounted for, however, they score very low in their Accountability and Transparency. Basically that means they handle their money well, but they may not be doing what we think they should be doing with their money.

In short: Invisible Children has already lied about Joseph Kony being the Godzilla of Uganda, so my belief is that the executives and filmmakers at Invisible Children continue to make movies that are a few years too late and rely on college students and younger people to fund their travels around the world so that each of them can live a very moderate life averaging a little over $80,000/year. In the process, they’ve accrued a great deal of funds to build their movie making and documentary system and in return, all they have to do is build a few schools and buy clothes for people in Uganda with the extra money so not to make it look like it’s a giant scheme.

My exact feelings towards this, I was just telling this girl all this, I watched the video do exactly what was intended in her, while I could barely watch. She wanted to "go help, and get over there" and I said thats exactly how the video is made to make you feel.

I take solace in knowing I can differentiate between utter mind control propoganda and genuine global issues.

They aren't accredited by the BBB and have low ratings on many charity sites, and refuse to allow independent accountants to go over their records. Sure it's illegal for them to profit but they can pay there workers so there profiting, and who knows by how much since they wont turn over there accounts. Also, another fallacy that is prevalent is that we need to help the Ugandan military catch this guy. First off, it's known he's not in Uganda, and giving more money to the Ugandan military probably isn't the greatest idea either because they are known to participate in rape and many other atrocities Kony himself is accused of, and unlike him they’re still in power.

I'd call a charity that doesn't allow complete transparency a scam, there's no reason for them not to. They are exposed by not giving up there records. However it seems to be working for them since all these idiots decide to blindly donate to them without doing any real research into the subject.

.....everything's a conspiracy to some people. I'm not saying it's legit or it isn't, but do any of you guys saying it's all war propaganda have any conclusive evidence?? I might add I'm looking for evidence other than "It's obvious maaaaaaaaaaaaaaan, the government maaaaaaaaaaan.........they're bad maaaaaaaaan, you'd see it if you posessed my superior mental acuity.":rolleyes:
