A couple marijuana light bulb spectrum questions

Im interested in doing a small stealth grow bow that would limit my room on plants and will most likely be putting them into flowering at an early stage. i have 3 choices of bulbs, and im going to be using 3 bulbs total.

-2700k flowering bulb
-6500k vegging bulb
-farmtek balanced spectrum bulb

would it be best to use

a. 2- 2700k flowering bulb and 1-6500k vegging bulb
b. 3- 2700k flowering bulb
c. 3- balanced spectrum bulbs

You need 45 watts p/sq foot how ever you figure it. If you can do 60 w/per sq foot even better. T5 and T8 bulbs can't penetrate very deep. An HPS bulb is the best overall single bulb to do veg and bloom. A 150 or 250 watt may be what you want. Trust me....the small flouro tubes will not put out the intensity and lumens you are looking for. They produce small wispy buds whereas HPS lighting gives you colas! HPS will run a bit hotter but you have to take care of the heat/humidity anyway...may as well get all you can for your efforts....

Let's say this....it's the difference in a few cakes in a styrofoam cooler versus a nicely done monotub. Do it right from the get go and you'll be much happier. Good luck.

BTW...there have been many ppl convert a small dresser into a cab with a 400w bulb that can get 5 oz easy....and quality at that....your call :zaphod:

You want mostly 6500k for veg and mostly 2700k for flower.  However, it's best to just get as much light in there as possible. I prefer a good mix of spectrum throughout the grow.

How small is limited? You can always go 12/12 from seed if you want to.

hps are outta the question because they run too hot and this is a 3 shelf dresser stealth setup!

i probly will go 12/12 from seeds, and im using 3-65 w flourescent bulbs for an area of 2.25 longwise and 2ft tall, and 1.5ft deep,

i just feel like a natural plant would benefit the most from a little mix of both, maybe 2 flowering lights and 1 veg light just to give that other side of the spectrum. unless all the plant really needs is the 3 flowering bulbs, but this isnt a robotic machine im growing, ya feel me?

i also leaned towards the full spectrum balance light but im just not sure anymore... the 3 flowering bulbs would probly make my buds dank but how much better could it be if there was a little veg bulb in there, i could probly add 3 more bulbs on the 2 sides of the box to add side view for the foliage that doesnt get hit with the top light.

I wouldn't go 12/12 from seed.  Just tie it down, look up LST methods.  A 3 drawer dresser cabinet is big enough for one plant, just gottta do some training.  Get it while it's vegging too and remember once you flower the plant will double if not triple in size.

The flower will benefit from the red spectrum most in flowering, but think about how the Sun works in nature, it's not like a switch that gets flicked, it'll have a good mix of spectrum.  Best to imitate the Sun as much as possible.

You'd be surprised at how you can air cool a bulb or cabinet with an active exhaust fan. A 150w HPS would be the right size for that area however you are reall....REALLY....dealing with low head height. Do the t5's if you wish but be aware they DO put out some heat as well. Best advice though is to choose your strain wisely. Sativas stretch a lot! Indicas not as much. Having only 1 space for veg and flower means you won't have a place for a mom to take clones from. There are breeders out there that are making femenized auto-flower seeds that would work best in your set up imo. However they aren't cheap. There is a version of AK out there that is known as 'lowryder'. It can go into flower from seed without the need for veg time. It flowers regardless of light schedule and doesn't need that veg time. Really expensive though. 1 seed= 1grow and that's it. But that may be what you need to look into given the height restriction.....

You have 24" head room. You'll need a 6-8" pot and a good 6-8" for light to hang. Uh....that only leaves you 1 foot grow space. I'd look for taller cabinet to work with honestly. Best of luck!

i think im gonna go with 1 vegging bulb and 2 flowering bulbs for the whole grow and do 12/12 from the beginning because im using random seeds from high grade that come like one in every ounce of bud so im not sure what strains ill be using but we shall see!

and im pretty much stuck with the setup, my bro did a PC grow and the cola was only a little bigger than a lighter, maybe 2.5 grams but it was the most dank nug ever!! little plants can still be potent!

i think of this as more of a hobby than me trying to get pounds etc, if i can get something to make a potent bud i dont really care how much i get, its free! i dont smoke that much maybe a gram bud every week or 2

and anyone will be able to walk in my room and notice an ordinary room, i go into my friends with his closet grow and u can see light leaks and one piece of tape around the whole outside or something, like its not obvious wats going on in there!! dummy!!

I dont know about the plants doubling or tripling in size when putting them into flower, I just put 7 ladies into flower a week and a half ago and the most any have stretched is about 5 inches, and Im sure they will get no bigger. Yes Id start out with 2 vegging bulbs and one flowering if youre going to 12/12 it. Then 2 or so weeks after they sprout, switch bulbs to 2 flowering one vegging bulb. I've done it once, thats how I did it. Extra dilluted nutes help too, since youre totally messing with its life cycle, they seem really easy to stress out. If you DO go with an autoflower, they usually dont need nutes. Whaatever you do, good luck.:billymaythumbup:

Hahaha, my top colas are generally around 12" tall at least.  A week and a half is not even close to being the time for flowering.  My plants flower for 8-12 weeks.  In that time they at least double in size, some of the sativas will triple in size, going from ~18" to 4+ feet.  I've seen some outdoor plants get up to 14 feet tall. :lol:

If you have limited height restrictions, you really need to think about either LSTing the main stem or running a SCRoG setup. Even with the autoflowering lowrider strains you're still gonna be pushing it.

After a week and a half your plants are probably barely showing pistils.  They will get much bigger, trust me.  They'll grow up to a certain point and then they'll grow out and get nice and fat.

Good, Ive got a 76" tent, if i could get another foot or so out of them it would be great.
