Re: How do I keep a stable temperature?
    #15817 -

First thing to do is buy a temp gauge (and i mean a reliable one.) My house is usually set on about 78 degrees F and i turn the vent off in the room with the shrooms so the temp is about at 80 all day. But if your house is colder just buy one of those work bench lamps with a steel cone over the bulb and experiment with mounting it different distances from your terranium. Keep the terranium covered most of the time so no light goes through but the light will produce heat that can be transfered into your terranium. BTW the lamps i'm talkin about are also great for drying shrooms. just wrap up the shrooms in a blak T-shirt and put them under the light (about 2ft away) overnite and they will be crispy dry in about 20 hours no noticable loss of potency. hope that helps

Thanks for the suggestions, but what do you mean buy 'put a steal cone over the bulb'?

Thanks

Crazy, You really dont have to stress on the temp so much. In nature, there are 20+ degree swings in temp from day to night and mushrooms do just fine. When I started on cubies, I stressed over every little detail. Not necessary. A 10 degree window will mimic nature to a limited degree and I have had no problems. See what works for you and use it.
