how important is a stable temperature?
and how much fluctuation is too much?

a stable temperature during this part of the growing process is pretty important. although myc will colonize at temps both higher and lower than lets say, 85 degrees, you want to try and avoid large variations. this will do nothing but slow down your progress.

once you start reaching extremely high temps, you will begin running into contamination problems, so it is best keeping things at a tried and true mid 80's.

if you can, try to bump that up by a few degrees, but you will have no problem just letting things go.
