That's pretty awesome.  I'm not sure what I would pick, I have a hard time utilizing everything I have available now let alone more.

"Francis Crick and Christof Koch also examine the neural correlates of consciousness, but their emphasis is on the circuits of the visual system. For Crick and Koch, the key to conscious processes lies in the synchronized neuronal oscillations that occur in the cortex at frequencies around 40 Hertz (35 to 75 Hz). "

relevant.

Who the hell made this shit you know?

It is made by a company called ARP, not Moog.

Moog had their own modular synth at the time called the Model-A.

FYI, the ARP 2500 was the same synth Pete Townsend used on a lot of Who songs including Baba O'reilly.

Oh the Moog was called the Model 55 not the a but the modules had series of a/b/c. An example would be the 904b/904a both being VCFs one HP and one LP.

I had it wrong.

Hardware is the tits. I really want to get an EMS Synthi one day or maybe build a clone myself(pipe dream),

I am in the process of building a low-fi analog synth. :awesome:  I ordered 4 times as many parts so I could experiment.  more info to come when I actually get it put together.

I figured you were. I saw your thread about the LM555 circuit.  I built one myself with the LM556(dual timer) using Forest Mims design.

He's a professional musician.  And he makes a lot of money in his business, so he doesn't need to.

You can source those lm555 and 556 chips from things like smoke detectors and car alarm sirens. They usually have a piezo transducer along with them you can use as a contact mic :awesome:

I find them in all kinds of shit.

Where do you order your parts? I was using Mouser but it has been a long time since ive touched my soldering iron.

question. why do the peeps with the greatest hardware and understanding of machines and electronics, stop at "making random noises" and never pick up a freaking sampler and microphone, and sequence some tracks? why?

i don't get it. why get all that cool shit and not make cool music?

This is the next circuit I want to build. It also uses the 555 single timer.

I think I would have a blast with this.

Aweome! where you able to squeeze any fun sounds of of em?  Any tips?  If I get it going I Want to build a simple LPF for it as well.  I also and going to convert mine to saw wave because I am not a big fan of squares :P

I went through mouser and jameco.  mouser allowed me to get 1 of an item but was more expensive, were as jameco was much cheaper, but had 100+ requirements on a lot of parts.

Yeah It sounds awesome. I never would have thought that little timer chip could make such a thick and raw sound. Ill try and get some clips of it one day.The only tip I can give really is just mock everything up on a breadboard before hand.

The 556 has two square waves, one is used to modulate the other.

Here is Mim's deisgn for shits and giggles.

I would reallylike to build a VCF for mine as well. Are you designing your own or which design are you going to use? I have also seen people implement things like a photodiode to make a light sensitive controller.

Here is one using the 556 with a photodiode.

He does music for tv commercials and stuff like that now.  He was on the road playing keys with the Ozark Mountain Daredevils in the '70s.  Not on their hit song, though.

Well, I ordered 4 555's, so It will def be multi oscillator. I just want to make sure I get 1 up and going, and then build osc 2 as a bit of a separate module that does subtractive synth with osc 1, and have it's own controls.  Essentially, if it does output a decent enough sound I would like to see just how far I Can take simple concept.

I am starting it on breadboard for sure. in fact it may stay that way for a while because I have a feeling I will be modding it often.

As for the LPF,

10$ rig
