Sonic the Hedgehog and Sonic Drive-in.. Biggest concidence in the world?

So today while I was preparing myself a chili cheese hot dog I started to think back to my childhood when I remembered Sonic the Hedgehog loving Chili Dogs..

That got me thinking... Isn't there a fast food hot dog joint called Sonic?

So I looked up both and it seems that there is no connection at all.

Just saying. :ancientaliens:

EDIT: Oh yeah I was trying to figure out where they got the name Sonic for the game, I couldn't find anything other than his original name was "Mr. Needlemouse" or something. :crankey:

Sonic the Hedgehog started as a marketing strategy for Wienerschnitzel that got out of hand

The W is like all those tubes you run through.


The problem was they didn't was to associate running with their fast food. Also with the "just say no" anti drug campaign they started to think Sonic was to much related to a meth head in a crazy disillusion state. They ended up dumping it and giving Sega the full rights.

I ate a hedgehog hotdog once.  It was more like a cocktail weenie, but it was good with onion rings (which Sonic also loved).
