my brother had really bad acne in his teens. Not as severe as mine, but definitely bad. My parents dealt with acne, but only your average teenage acne, nothing severe like mine.

I know its hard but if you find productive hobbies (guitar, weight lifting, hiking) your life will be better. Accutane can work if you go through enough sessions (it sucks though I feel your pain:hug:

why are you encouraging him to use accutane after he's already tried it and it failed miserably... do you realize that accutane is chemotherapy? here's a link for you...

I took accutane (60mg a day) and I didn't experience any terribly bad side effects other than dryness, but everyone's different so if it isn't for him then it isn't for him.

One thing I would totally, absolutely stress is that you should exercise every day, just some light to moderate cardio, it does WONDERS. Also, avoid being too clean. Showering every day especially with soaps and body washes can really irritate your skin, which will aggravate acne. Not saying that you should never wash yourself, but you really only need body wash on your underarms and manly bits. Keep your showers fast and not as hot too.

A few lifestyle changes can go a long way to help your acne, ease stress that may be related to it (and also may even be aggravating your acne!), and make life awesome.

I've had hydrocortison for severe excema, it relieved me of all skin disorders but use this very lightly... Not much sideeffects other then the skin that gets a bit tinner (more prone to bruising) but you shouldn't smear your skin full of it, small fingertops at a time.

I have a cousin who went threw something similar, not really on all parts of his body like that, but he would get really painful ones on his face, he went threw all kinds of stuff, experimental Rx, and all sorts of things alot of them did more bad then good, some made him really really depressed. I would be very careful bout how you go about doing experimental Rx drugs do your research first, I'm not saying they wont work for you, but they could potentially make things far worse then having a acne riddled back. Everyones body is different, everyones skin conditions are different. Allergies may be something to seriously consider, aswell as stress, like people have said the more you worry bout things of this nature you could be making it worse. Food for thought.

Mimosa Hostilis Root Bark

The same stuff you extract DMT from.

Research medicinal uses for it. It is known as a "miracle cure" for all kinds of skin ailments. Here is straight off wikipedia:

"The Mayans of Mexico have used roasted Mimosa tenuiflora "tepezcohuite" bark to treat lesions of the skin for over a thousand years.[8]
Powdered tepezcohuite bark contains large amounts (16%) of tannins, which act as an astringent, making the skin stop bleeding. This helps protect the body from infection, while the skin builds new protective tissue.[citation needed]
Tannins in the bark diminish capillary permeability.[disambiguation needed ] It contains antioxidant flavonoids.
Mimosa tenuiflora "tepezcohuite" proved vital in the treatment of some of the 5000 burn victims in the aftermath of a series of liquid petroleum gas explosions at a huge facility located near Mexico City in San Juan Ixhuatepec (San Juanico), November 19, 1984.[9] It was also used to treat victims of a large 1985 earthquake in Mexico.[9] Powder from the bark has a 2-3 hour pain killing effect on the skin. Bark powder causes skin to regenerate fully in a matter of weeks.[9][not in citation given] The results and some mechanisms thereof have been confirmed in the laboratory.[9] Tepezcohuite is used to treat acne, psoriasis and herpes.[10]
Extensive research has been performed in labs in Mexico, Canada and the United Kingdom.[citation needed] It is now used in commercial hair and skin products that claim to rejuvenate skin. The bark is known to be rich in tannins, saponins, alkaloids, lipids, phytosterols, glucosides, xylose, rhamnose, arabinose, lupeol, methoxychalcones and kukulkanins. In vitro studies have shown three times more bacteriocidal activity on bacterial cultures than streptomycin, and it works to some degree in vivo.[citation needed]
In addition to the above effects, tepezcohuite may protect and stimulate the generation of collagen and "elastina," as well as providing protecting flavonoids and hyaluronic acid, a building block for tissue regeneration.[citation needed]"

I am 20 and have struggled with moderate and persistent facial acne since I was 12-13. I have just recently tried using mimosa root bark this past week and the results are looking fantastic. My skin has not broken out so far, and my skin is beginning to look incredibly healthy.I just take a dime sized amount and mix it with water, and rub it all over my face and wash it off. Then I apply a thin dry layer over my skin to wear for the rest of the day.

I have also been on a variety of acne medications, including accutane (horrible stuff) and nothing has worked for me. I decided to start with mimosa because I am tired off my shitty skin. The bark makes my skin super smooth and has cleared off nearly half of my acne so far, and it's been less than a week since I've started.

You can find a kilo for around $80 if you know where to look. That's enough to last you over a year and you can still use half of it for entheogenic purposes

If you are looking for an alternative treatment this may work for you. I am going to continue applying some to my face each day and will report back with my results.

I asked a friend of mine who had a problem similar to yours what he took. He said he tried many different products but what ultimately helped was something called differin sp? which is by script only I believe, and Diacenal sp? which is some sort of cleansing wash for oily skin, but not irritating. I hope this helps.

Do you have any updates??? I've got something that may help, it's a natural root with insane antibiotic and antimicrobial properties. It's called Osha or Bear root. The natives used it for lots of things. Shoot me a pm if you're interested.

update-

Snapped another picture-

While it may not seem that improved, it definitely feels less inflamed and broken out. Ive been using a mixture of everyones suggestions, but I think what helped it the most was cutting out the second shower. Im starting to realize just how much taking two showers a day was irritating my skin.

Ill keep updating if anyone is interested in the progress. And thanks for all the suggestions

Sweet! It looks alright man. You know your body better than us, but letting your body's natural oils protect your skin seems to be it! What kind of soap do you use? Maybe hit up a whole foods or co-op or any kind of hippie store and try some of the more natural soaps. My sister used a lot of soap free cleansers for her acne, it helped her a lot.

this is awesome news! keep us posted and in the end let us know exactly what you implemented... that will be good information for others who might have the same problem and decide to do a forum search instead of posting...
