Table recommendations

I am in the process of setting up my sterile room for working in and I had a question.

What type of table top do you guys use?

Is there a specific table surface that would be better than others? The reason I ask is because I can get tables with vinyl tops, wood tops, hard plastic tops, or metal tops. Which is best the the atmosphere it will be in?

Haha That I agree with. I just didn't know if one was better than other. I feel like vinyl wouldn't be agood option as it is a softer material. Thats why I was curous what others thought.

Yes you are correct but at the same time carpet is carpet but you wouldn't carpet your parking garage correct?

Guess I need to make the question bit simpler. Do any table surfaces pose a problem for a sterile environment?

Glass table tops are best, because they're so easy to clean. Select a sturdy table and then find a piece of tempered safety glass to go over it.  Often, garage sales have those tacky 80s tables with glass tops you can get for cheap, just to salvage the glass.

Make sure you get the right height to comfortably work. Stand up and measure from the floor to your elbows and subtracts 4 inches. This is how high you want your table to be. This will allow you to work easy without needing to hunch over or smash your elbows off the edge. Adjustable/removable legs are a plus IMO. Depth is another issue if you intend to fit a flow hood on the table and have room to work in front of it. Something 3 feet would give you 2 feet for the flow hood and one foot to work in. I would aim for 3-4 feet deep. As RR said glass is best and a 2nd best would be stainless steel.
