I agree with everyone who's saying to ditch those bags ASAP. You seem pretty stubborn, happens a lot with new growers on here (myself included at one point). Just cut your loses, count it as a lesson, and don't ruin your home for any future grows.

I won't be using this room (or this house) for growing anymore, so I'm not really worried about ruining future grows.

I think I can manage keeping them around for a while longer. I can probably get a few shrooms to mature before I toss it.

Did you consider maybe fruiting in the bag? Since one pin already formed in vitro, you could encourage more pinning by simply introducing FAE in-bag.

In the hastily-constructed SGFC, without perlite, they run a higher risk of drying out.

Then again, if you put this whole contraption outdoors, (on a windowsill or something) and mist religiously, the fresh outdoor air and sunshine might actually boost the mycelium against the contams.

Just spitting out ideas here since it seems you're pretty much fruiting these just to see.

good idea! I think I'll try putting it on the window sill for part of the day.

well if you insist on keeping them which let cut the bs and just say you are not going to throw them out till they are dry as a cracker and as green as your lawn. you might as well get some perlite and do it right if you want to get anything at all out of them. iv had contam cakes before that were pinning like crazy so i got a 2 or 3 ltr bottle i use 3 ltr ones cut off the lid just past where it goes to the widest part of the bottle goto the very bottom poke some holes with a knife or heat up a nail (drainage ) and fill with about 3 inches of perlite and poke or cut 6-8 1/4" holes just above the level of the perlite mist place cake inside and put a gal bag over the whole thing leave it loose and let it go outside in a kinda shadey spot, works great for me. just get the first flush and throw it out (or dont idc)

I admire your tenacity, icecap. I have a personal interest in seeing how this experiment turns out. I have 2 earth's moon B+ syringes on standby for my 1st venture into this amazing hobby. I would like to see some more pictures of your sgfc, if you would be so kind. Also, Take some photos from a bit further back, I would like to get like to get a better look at things from a distance. Keep up the fight, I am rooting for ya.

Never mind about backing up. I see you have some huge pics that I have to use the scroller to get the full view of. I think I can safely say I won't be attempting my first grow this way. Good luck though.

In one of your first pictures, it looks like your photo was taken looking down into the spawn bag, was it? Was the bag open for that shot? I cant tell from the pic or your post. Does "from the top of the bag" mean looking inside it?
