the artist is very good IMO. unfortunatly he still puts out some generic bro-step for the kiddies but his melodic stuff is nasty and uses all the good aspects of dub without the trash.

Not really, unless the only electronic music you're aware of is dubstep.  A lot of hiphop beats are electronic, they aren't aimed for drug use.


i said most not all, was thinking more along the lines, of house, minimal, techno, hardstyle, hardore, dnb, breaks, trance..... to name a few

im aware of and listen to a wide range of electronic music :shrug:

id much rather be listening to some minimal techno while rolling than dubstep.... anyway lol



That's the thing, techno/hardstyle/dubstep is only a small section of the electronic music genre.  It's the most obvious electronic music, but electronic music goes far out beyond those genres.

That is simply not true, at ALL.  Dubstep is really the only genre of electronic music I can think of that is seriously aimed at people who are on drugs.  For example, I can enjoy some Wolfgang Gartner when I'm sober, because he's extremely musical and his shit is pretty awesome.

Porter Robinson is the closest thing to dub I can enjoy.  I like this tune if I'm out partying, and it's pretty dubby, but I still wouldn't call it dubstep.

Shpongle is pretty drug induced - I was obviously exaggerating BTW.  I didn't mean that ONLY dubstep is made for people on drugs, just that a lot of electronic music can certainly be enjoyed sober or at least not royally fucked on a shmorgasborg of drugs.  I would agree that electronic music is generally targeted to the party scene though.
