Help convising parents that salvia isn't bad.

I am going to write an essay to try to convise my parents that I can do Salvia, in their home and stuff, and that that would be the safest place to try it.

There are againts most drugs, legal and illegal, but have no problems with me doing drugs like Kava Kava.

I am goign to mention about how it has little to no bad side effects. I am not going to lie about it's very powerful effects, but I will no mention that until the end, hopefully after I have convised them that it is safe.


any helpful links and thought out arguments would be nice (And of course, yes I know about Erowid)

Yeah, but they dont particullarly like cigs.


and I don't smoke cigs, to expensive.

that would be a bad way to go, it would lead them to think I am doing something addictive like cigs.

well I should give some more backround.


I would like their permission to do this drug for the sole purpose that it would be more safe if they knew I was consuming it, and then I also don't have to worry about them "catching me"

plus it gives me an excuse to have a bong!

I will do it, even if they tell me I can't, but this way it is alot easier for me to get it, and then they also won't be surprised to find me on my carpet, thinking I am a Giant space noodle or whatever.

I think you got it down. You tell them how safe it is and thats it. All you have to worry about is its powerful effect which you said you wanna tell them so go!

I know this is weird because most people rave about it... but I must agree with you on this. My experiences with salvia have been totally unlike any other hallucinogenic drug I've tried, it wasn't euphoric, the intense weird buzz that comes over you creeped me the fuck out, (thats before I went totally nuts) and you feel like you need to move from where you originally hit the stuff...

It's impossible to describe it, but all I can say it, it isn't "fun"

I wouldn't say its more fun than meditation. Since it doesn't have the pleasure effect, its not as much of a drug.

it's definately extremely, extremely intense, but it's not something you're ever going to do a lot of. I wouldn't even bother going through the trouble of bringing this up with your parents, unless you start smoking it all the time and it's a big deal - which isn't going to happen. It's intense but it is very disorienting , confusing, and often frightening. After you smoke it you don't feel like smoking again, at least for quite some time (weeks to months). No sense freaking out your parents with the idea that you're taking bong hits of drugs over something like salvia.

Of course this is only my experience. Whatever you decide to do, good luck!

I agree, I dont think you need to tell them for anything except mail. Salvia is not something most people do alot and its effects do not last long at all, like if you have 10mins to yourself your good.

This could also work, you give them small amounts just to get a little rush. I would only do this in a last case kinda thing.

I would agree that it's not recreational, but life is about experience and salvia, to alot of people, is just another far out experience they can put under their belt.. say they've done it, whatever.

Personally I am still on the journey with salvia. Although I think it totally surpasses the boundaries of being pleasant or unpleasant, I often find it hard to really pull anything from the experience. The "knowledge" is with you while you're in the moment, and when you return, it's a clouded memory which in it's intensity, gradually fades from your conscious memory.

Sombie, if you show your parents that you are mature, and responsible enough to handle something like salvia, I think they will consider allowing you to use it. I wouldn't recommend you telling them it's like cigarettes or alcohol.. How easy would it be for one of your parents to research this substance one day for themselves and find that you lied to them in the beginning so they would permit you to use it?

I think that might make them a bit angry. Although I think by the time they did something like that, there's a 75% chance your salvia days would be over. :grin:

Be open. Let them know your intentions. Show them you're mature, and responsible enough to handle it, and I think it'll work out.

And remember, it is very intense, very weird, and although I've never had a particularly unpleasant experience as of yet, I'm sure it very well can be unpleasant. Be safe  :wink:

Thats cool.
But ya dude, these people are right. There really is no reason to even tell your parents. After you do it a few times, chances are you'll have no desire to do it again. You can have them send it to your post office, and you can go pick it up yourself.

Well, I don't think anyone is going to really bark at you for your opinion. You interpreted negativity from your experiences, and everyone who has tried it knows that it definately isn't for everyone.

I think Sombie should let his parents know like I stated before, and if they don't agree.. well, do it anyway.  :wink:

I'm not sure if you want your own mother to see you on salvia. I watched my friend do it, and his face contorted into this expression of fear that I had never seen before, and he started drooling, mumbling, and thrashing his arms. I'd imagine that'd be a very traumatizing experience for a mother to have to go through. Scared the hell outta me, and I have general knowledge about salvia. Just get a little packet of 5x or whatever, and wait for your parents to go out, and have a friend over to help you out and thats all. It won't become a regular thing, you don't need to get permission.
