This looks like an interesting project. I only just noticed this thread. I'd be willing to help as well. I haven't been in irc in years, but I have spent more than a decade working with code of many types, although my main area is c/cpp, I can do VB also. If anything I may be able to help with suggestions.

ShroomIRCii !! As far as program requirements, all it needs is a 3 listboxes (one for notices, one for chats, one for names), 2 textboxes (one for input, one for output)... that and the code behind it , is all on me. Eris , maybe you could work with me and make sure that I'm doing it all as efficiently as possible, my code tends to get ugly sometimes...

The rest, i just need people to create backgrounds that will incorporate those elements, look as though it was a baby from shroomery.org , need buttons such as "connect", "menu" "X (for close), "_" (for minimize), .. etc.. and labels such as "Chatters" for names list box, a logo for the top like "ShroomIRCy" or whatever., things like that. I'm on IRC.shroomery.org #shroomchat, feel free to upload pictures , I think its best to start with a background , and link them to me here in message, or on irc..

erie, do you have a copy of vb5? i know its outdated, but serves this purpose as good as any.

my friend dvda is going to get started on this, should have more updates soon...

update : here's a background/border he is working on.  bottom should have connect button, then input field, then send button  .. the top , after the "shroomircy" should have the buttons
