Blue Orchid

I'm looking and can't find seeds for this flower anywhere, even ebay. Is there a website that has seeds for this rare and beautiful flower?:sun:

wiki: no orchid has true blue flowers

This purplish-blue one is probably going to be the closest you can get.

Vanda coerulea

edit: Orchids are such beautiful plants. :awepreciation:

I believe the blue color comes from cross breading so seeds are probably hard to come by.

I'm pretty sure all of those pictures posted by the OP are photoshopped.

Also, orchids are usually propagated via tissue culture and division instead of by seed.

This reminds me of the Dr. Octagon track "Blue Flowers".

Seems like people have been tying pretty hard to breed "true blue" flowers of a few different species for some time, take roses or tulips for example. The blue tulips I've seen pictures of look pretty blue but supposedly the have a tinge of violet. "Blue" roses are nowhere near blue though. Sure there are lots of other kinds of flowers that are blue but there's no challenge in that I guess.

I read about this some time ago. They will inject blue ink in the stem when the plant is growing, and it will produce blue flowers. Though the newer flowers will eventually get white again. You can even spot the hole in the stem where they injected the pigment, so take a close look if you'd find these plants!

Didn't anyone read my post? These are NOT my pictures but it's from another forum's thread:

The newer leaves on the "blue" orchid getting more white:

And here's the hole where they injected the ink:

I guess this method of injecting ink into the stem would be ideal for florists wanting a unique colour. just chop the stem just above the mark.
