No offence, but those pictures are low quality. Those don't even look like pan subbs in the photos you provided.

Hi NuggetsTheShaker,

HE is not referring to Pan subbs. The mushrooms in his pictures are not Panaeolus subbalteatus but Psilocybe subaeruginosa.

Here is a better image of one of his photo after I put it in photoshop.

I clkick image and hit adjust level, then a little brighness and a light contrast cleaned some o0f it up./ The others however were not dso great.
The pizza was okay so I did not touch it although you could have made it lighter.

I don't have a very good camera and I could hardly stand up at the time, so I think they turned out okay considering.

For future reference, how did you fix up the image in Photoshop? 


I duno about those being Ps. Subaerginosa, The caps look to grey silver, And if it was from the suns ray bleacking them the caps more of a yellow gollden color.
What sort of medium were they growing from, It only look like leaves to me. :crazy: :confused:

i dont think you can really tell the color accurately from those pics....
they could easily be dry ps. subaeruginosa whose caps have been stained greenyblue from cold and rain...

if theres leaves on the ground there would also be decomposed wood/leaves in the soil... i have seen subs fruiting off pinecones, particle board, soggy nothofagus logs, living tree-fern trunks...also from wood buried deep in clay.... leaves wouldnt be too far of a streatch...

I agree. The subs seem to have a huge variation in cap colour. From what I see they look similar to subs. Did they stain blue souny? I couldn't really tell.

You really cant identify any mushroom from a photo there Geko - ANd with the wide variation in Subaeruginosa in Melbourne you can get whitebrown/yellowbrown/orangebrown/brown/greyishbrown and bone and trust me they are all Sunaeruginosa.

the above Gives you an idea of the variation of subs - and someone recentally sent me a pic of some subs that were so wavy that they looked like paper fans! I know some woodmulch areas were the wavy ones grow Fezza, so ill take you there.
I found my very first Melbourne Subs growing on a piece of wood lodged between two slabs of concrete on a footpath!

these were growing off chipboard lodged in the ground.... same 1ft sq, 1 inch thick piece was fruiting last year, tho they were never very impressive
