Idk man but I'm to young for that shit, I let the doctors plant bs in my head and listened because they're the ones with the education and licence to practice medicine, pshhh whatever fuck it.

This is what discouraged me from becoming a clinical psychologist.  People take advice from authority figures WAY too far to heart when in reality it's a practice, and a very complicated one at that.

Wow, this thread has some pretty intelligent and elaborate responses.

Lots of talk about side effects though.

If you take/have taken SSRIs in the past, what was the most noticeable side effect you have noticed?

Not being able to get off during sex is why I stopped, besides that the only other side effects i noticed were violent urges and the way it made my muscles feel. This was only after starting the medication and also after increasing the dosage and only lasted a day or so after a couple weeks of having it increased and starting the medication.

I think that it could definately be dangerous prescribing this medication to someone younger who doesn't fully understand the side effects they may experience.

I took mushrooms in 12th grade and became a little delusional. In college I did nothing but hang out with my girlfriend and take psychedelics and I started to really regress socially. I made it my goal to get over this and become social again and after a lot of failure, humiliation, and persistance, I became the toast of the town.

I started taking SSRI's when I broke up with my gf and went into deep depression (a couple months after I made the goal to basically stop using her as a social crutch and start making friends again).

The paxil made me tired, but it overall it made me less depressed and apathetic and more happy. I went to the University of Pennsylvania Medical Center, and my psychiatrist basically said I may not need the paxil, but need lamictal instead for mild manic depression disorder. So, I started taking lamictal and I feel better than ever. I'm coming off the paxil slowly and I feel great.

Long story short, I became apathetic and depressed due to manic depression, psychedelics, and using my gf as a crutch and a reason not to go into anxiety producing social situations. Over the course of a year I learned how to be social and happy, but I was still depressed and in pain. The lamictal and paxil didn't make me apathetic in any way. They only increased my happiness, but the reasons for my happiness came from my own hard work and coping with anxiety instead of hiding from it.
