Do you think it is a bad idea for me to go to Las Vegas by myself? I'm at a crossroads in my life and I'm looking for some kind of instant gratification.  I'm not a party animal, I just want to get away and do something memorable.  Take some pictures, see some freaky people.  My sister says its dangerous for me to go alone.  Is she right?
Should I go to Las Vegas by myself?

But why would you WANT to go alone?? Why not take one of your closest friends with you?  Vegas is the kind of experience best shared.

I've only been to Vegas once... went with two friends, we were completely pissed the entire time. I mean we arrived at 9 AM, went and got a 1.5L of vodka and a 750mL of Jameson, shit was gone by sundown. And that was just to get started.

I would never repeat that experience without my friends there. :rofl:

I'm REALLY fucking miserable right now and I don't think I would be very good company.  Also, anyone I would ask to come with me is broke OR already went to Vegas this summer.

It would be a solo trip.

It's your call. I don't know Vegas too well myself so I have no idea how much fun it is without being several orders of magnitude drunker than I'd ever want to be without people I know around me.

Caveats aside, I get the sneaky feeling Vegas might be depressing as hell if you're not that drunk...

how far of a trip is it for you? I think it is up to you to decide. If you feel like you can manage go for it. I have been to vegas, if you have the money you will enjoy yourself, but if you go with little money to spend its not much of an experience.

vegas seems like a fun idea but probably not the best idea. I don't know what you're into but longer road trip to a variety of places seems more memorable. The more places you stop the more people you're going to meet and the more pictures you're going to take. That isn't to say vegas shouldn't be one of the places you stop at.

Again, you know best. If you think it'll be fun, then go for it. It is certainly a unique place and worth experiencing, from what I remember. It's kind of like a huge adult theme park where kids are allowed for some reason.

BTW, I know a young lady who went to Vegas by herself and she had a good time. I don't think she did much other than see a concert and lounge in her suite though.

No, she was just fine. Honestly, it's Vegas, not the projects. For all the booze, hookers and gambling, they run a pretty tight ship.

The safest place is the strip IME.

The local gangs consider that area their income and have an understanding of not starting shit and robbing tourists around that area because they both want to sell to the tourists.

Anywhere else I don't really know.

I met a few people down there that were cool as fuck and just wanted to make all the money they could off of tourists around the strip.  They'll deliver right up to your hotel room in a timely manner and were actually very respectful acting in nature.

the strip is actually pretty safe considering its always well lit and there is heavy policing. I can't imagine going to vegas alone fun though :shrug:

Yeah, my experience is pretty much just with the strip. My friend's family had a timeshare suite on the outskirts of the city and a shuttle came by regularly to pick our drunk asses up and haul them to the strip.

Overall it's a pretty classy place. I feel like I was probably the nastiest one around, I puked on a woman's cleavage while I was staring down it at Margaritaville. I had to leave Margaritaville but shit, I feel like if I did that around here I'd have to go to jail too.

Ultimately, CherryBom, if you stick to the high-traffic areas, the worst you'll probably have to deal with is the likes of me.

Choose wisely.

I did the same thing you're thinking of doing.  I bought a ticket on a whim to Vegas for the Vets in Vegas Gathering.  Then my best friend got dumped by his girl of 4 years and he bought a ticket too.  We had a fucking BLAST.  I'm sure you'll be fine alone, but you'll be very disappointed when you come back and talk to your friends about it, wishing they were there as you tell them the stories.  If you do go, :pm: me and I'll give you the names of some shroomerites you absolutely MUST hang out with during your stay.
