I went to a "Creationist Museum" in Kentucky once. Their idea of a world without God consists of back alleys that have graffiti on them and a couple of goth kids playing video games while they talk about hot chicks.

There was also a really trippy I-max type presentation - it had pretty much nothing to do with God or creationism until the last minute or so. The rest simply showed how big the universe was and the sizes of various stars/planets relative to Earth; it wasn't that bad, actually.

No, the burden of proof is on you because there is no history prior to that date, and you are claiming the earth is 4.5 billion years old. Without any prior recorded history, there is no reason to believe the earth is any older than than 6,000 years old. You're the one who fails at logic. Oh well, don't say people didn't warn you, when you die, you'll find out the truth.

OP, what is your opinion on the scientific validity of carbon dating?

Carbon dating can be seriously messed up if the sample was exposed to water. I recall a test when scientists carbon dated a seal that had died days prior to be over 1,500 years old. There are flaws. Let's say the earth is definitely 4.5 billion years old and evolution occurred, it still doesn't disprove Christianity anyway.

You still have time to accept Jesus and repent of your sins.

Jesus was just a character in an ancient book, it's highly likely that he never factually existed..what do you mean by "accept Jesus"? How can I accept a fictional character?
I don't care what other people consider to be "sinful"..I make my own rules, I'm not a sheep. :sheepie:

abf5000 said:
You still have time to deny the evolution hoax and accept the truth of the earth being 6,000 years old.

What evolution hoax? Everything evolves.

Just because you say it's true that the earth is 6,000 years old doesn't mean it's true..please substantiate that, I'm not gonna take your word for it. Especially since you're an irrational religious person.

abf5000 said:
There is no proof of an old earth(Radiocarbon dating is inaccurate and flawed)

Are you a scientist? What do you base your belief that carbon-dating is inaccurate/flawed on? Is this just another thing you have faith in, or do you actually have a logical reason for believing it?

abf5000 said:
Evolution is impossible, look at how complex the universe is, it was designed.

Evolution is not impossible..there is no physical law which prevents evolution from occurring. Just because the universe is complex doesn't necessarily mean it was designed.

You make a lot of wacky conclusions based on hardly suggestive evidence..you don't seem to understand logic, but I'm not surprised at all because you are a religious person. Irrationality is your kind's MO.

abf5000 said:
Evolution is a lie, and Charles Darwin recanted his beliefs on evolution on his deathbed, even he knew it.

Even if he recanted his beliefs, so what? What bearing does this have on the actual data he collected which supports the theory of evolution?

abf5000 said:
What if you're wrong and God,Heaven, and Hell exist? You're finished then. It's better to play it safe. You don't want to go to Hell, do you? You might as well hedge your bets.

I don't go around wearing bullet-proof vests because it's highly unlikely that I'll get shot..the existence of hell is orders of magnitude more unlikely. There is no evidence for its existence, and there never will be.

Lots of reasons to call him god with respect to those points.  He could just be superpowerful and involved in our lives, not omnipotent but just real powerful.  That is how many of mankind's gods have been.  Also, what if he just made the universe?  Then I would call him god too, he doesnt even have to interact with me or know me.

Those silly questions were obviously authored with a strict christian-centric thought process in mind.

You don't understand debate..you are the one who made the initial claim that the earth is 6,000 years old. The burden of proof is on the initial claimant, which is you..I never claimed that the Earth definitely is or isn't 6,000 years old, anyway.

abf5000 said:

I did not claim that.

abf5000 said:

So you're assuming that the Earth could not have existed long before humans? What are you basing this assumption on?

And you're wrong, there is a reason to believe that the Earth is older than 6,000 years..geological and carbon-dating evidence suggests that it is much older than that.

Op im curious....where does such a firm conviction come from? To be honest the only people ive met who were so sure of what was taking place in terms of reality and life were schizophrenic.

I honestly want to know how you came to this conclusion about God, Jesus, and life.....how you are able to stand so firm with it? How old are you by the way?

Scientists are aware of the flaws, and work with them accordingly. Over time, carbon-dating science has improved and become more accurate.

Op, what is wrong with me living my life the best I can and accepting the fact that I don't know shit? Why do I have to live my life the way some draconian book tells me to? All this arguing is pointless, we will all see when we die(my moneys on eternal darkness).

There are many similarities between the religious and the mentally ill.

It makes him feel secure, and preaching gives him an ego boost.

My parents are strong Christians and they raised me to be one too. I'm 20 if you want to know my age. Do I believe in an old earth? Okay, I do, I was messing around, but I'm still skeptical of evolution. Those things don't disprove Christianity anyway. If you have watched the video I posted, you will see some famous Atheists who were very scared on their deathbed.
