So i finally am almost done my first bulk grow just as a first attempt i only spawned 1 quart jar spawn to coir and i never used gypsum. Im just wondering if i had used gypsum would my yeild be increased ? because right now the pin set looks pretty small, i was expecting alot more it almost looks like about the same pin set i got when i just put a casing layer on the colonized grain..... also were can i buy powdered gypsum what store would i look in ?

Whoa buddy you have TOO much water in your FC. Are you using a SGFC or a Poor Mans Pod? Because thats too much water for either one. Contam city.

Looks like a PMP to me. Am i the only one seeing that greenish/yellowish stuff? Looks odd

he's attempting a poor mans pod.

the thing about a poor mans pod is this:

the water level must be BELOW the geolite level.

about 4 inches of water, and 5 inches of geolite.

the inch of geolite above the water allows humidity to actually be created before being pushed up into your chamber.

I think gypsum is helpful nutritionally, but I'm no expert.  Check CH Hell's Additive thread.

You can get gypsum at Agway if you live in the US.  They call it garden gypsum, and I think I paid $11 for 40 lbs.

k i lowered the water lvl to 4" and there is 5" geolite now about the gypsum would that increase my yeild? also i live in canada so were would i find it here

i also thought it was a little yellow but everything seems to be growing fine and it smells like healthy mycellium does anyone know what could be causing this ?

You can also save a few bucks by just crumbling up some drywall. Drywall is made of gypsum plaster pressed between paper facing and backing. If you don't have any extra drywall lying around check Craigslist (my advice for everything, lol) for free drywall scrap.

lol thanks i think ill go to my local gardening shop after work tomorrow. I got some grain soaking right now so i think ill try throwing in a  tbs of gypsum before i pc it tomorrow see if that helps
