1.) Download emulator

2.) Download rom

3.) Load rom in emulator

4.) Google problems

It's not hard. I would suggest you do N64 first, though.

Perhaps you should unpack them.

Make a folder on your desktop and highlight/drag the files from the .rar to the new folder.

Make sure it's the PS1 version of the game and not the computer version.

Have you downloaded the playstation bios files yet? If not you need to, just download the latest pack. Go into the system settings and set the bios files to the audio, video and controller.

Should play the .iso after all is set and ready.

7zip but they are all very similar. All you do is right click, extract to(whatever the file name is) and voila.

You're going to need a playstation bios, and if you're using epsxe, you're going to need the appropriate plugins for display, sound, cdrom, and input. It's a bit tricky to set up. The epsxe manual should tell you a lot about it.

okay, i found a torrent from TPB that has all the bios and pluggins and so forth. i just now completed the config, but im not sure if i did this correct.

i did create a folder on the desktop named FF7 then extracted all files into this folder. i also created a folder inside the FF7 folder next to the PSXfin folder named PSX games. here i will extract all the FF7 rom disks.

my question problem is concerning the config. how do i know i did this correct?

Leave the ISO whole.  Just go to open disc, then point it to the ISO and run.

If you would be wiling to switch to EPSXE i could help you out. I use it all the time and have probably installed it 20+ times

EDIT my bad apparently you are using it. I honstly dont know what ECM thing is, ive never un into it. If you want i think i could try to make you a private torrent with every necessary file already in it. Hit me up on skype  if you have it my name is "Greshapa". Worst case scenario you could install a program called LogMeIn on your computer and i could install it for you

Probably sounds sketchy but i work for a tech support company and do that kind of thing all the time, not usually with games though lol

F1 saves a file, F2 cycles through your save states (you have 5 save states) and F3 loads a save state,

so if that didnt make sense...

By default your on save state 1

if you press F1 you save your game to save state 1,

If you press F2 you move to state 2 which has no game data (unless you press F1 and save to it. After you press F2 5 times you make it back to save state 1.

If you press F3 on a state with data you go straight to where you were when you press F1.

If you press F3 in a blank state nothing happens.

You should also be able to save normally using the built in memory card, i would suggest doing that like every hour or so incase your save states get bugged or you accedentaly fuck something up. and make a save state every 5-10 minutes, at least that what i do.

If you dont want to feel like your cheating avoid save states all together because their pretty easy to abuse.

I abuse them anyways.

You probably shouldnt have to touch the video plugin at all if the game is already working i wouldn't play around with it.
