Is eMule worth it?

The search results are godly

Much safer than Limewire

But it seems to take forever to download

Yes. There are downsides, like the speed, the number of incomplete files and the fact that you can end up with a film dubbed in Italian or Russian (so use preview and always check the comments and all the filenames of the file), but it is a place where you can find almost anything.

So for recent and popular files you're better off finding a torrent, but for older and rare files, the eMule network is great. Downloading may take a week, but that's still better than getting nothing.

The preview feature can get annoying...

Doesn't about 75% of the file must be finished or something?

Oh well, it is better than nothing

check in the settings menu "try to download first and last chunk first" When it has the first and last chunk, you can do a preview.

I have given emule/amule (linux client) several tries, but I could never get into it. I guess im stuck on soulseek/nicotine and bittorrent...and sometimes dc++

I've yet to see a movie file on soulseek...

One more question about eMule

How do I delete my searches? There's som less than desirable things on my bar

soulseek really isnt the place for movies - its 99% music.
bittorrent is how you get movies - although it's a little risky now.
have you tried newsgroups/usenet?

eMule is great for single songs, not-so-popular bands, and older files.

But yeah, it can be slow. Unfortionatly, eMule no longer works for me. I tink it might be my new net connection....

I just use usenet through my ISP. You don't get access to some of the binary groups but I can still usually get all the latest movies/games/applications I need. Great speed too, maxes out my connection!  :smile:
